off to venue today for 'planning meeting' ... help!

welshcake79, 12 June, 2011 at 11:13 Posted on Planning 0 4

As above really, but I am not looking forward to it... Not only do I not know what this is, but I'm not sure whether I need to take anything and MOST OF ALL I am worried that my mum is going to take over and ruin in by putting her 2 pence in.

ARGH!!!! Help ladies (and gents). Any advice from someone that has been to one of these things?

Take a list with your own ideas, and a pen and paper so you can jot down anything that the co-ordinator says that you want to remember.

Be strong and don't let you mother take control - its your wedding! If she has some suggestions, tell her you'll write them down and think about them later if it makes it easier.

    Good luck!

It's just basically a discussion about how you would like your ceremony and/or reception so things like timings, menus, place setting arrangements, drinks, photos, room accommodation, and last but not least the dreaded BILL!

You need to let them know if you want a line up, master of ceremonies, where you want the cake, what timings you have, where will the guests go when you turn the room around for the evening guests (if in same room) what time for evening buffet, when will it finnish, can you drop off the table dec's and will they set them up. Im sure there is more but this is all i can think of!

Sounds like you are all prepared!

Don't be afraid of asking all your questions, it will be better for everyone if things are clear early on.

From a supplier perspective, I always find it helpful when people ask lots of questions and discuss the details as it means you are less likely to have misunderstandings later on.

    Hope it goes well
