I've been reading the monsysavingexpert forums recently and the spelling on a lot of the posts reduces me to tears. I have to stop myself from posting corrections!

It is basic stuff like aloud instead of allowed, to instead of too, shoud instead of should etc.

OMG, that is scary. I hope they're formal written language is a bit more expressive, otherwise I'd despair for their education at uni. ?

On another more personal note, your going to my uni Platty. It's very rare that I find someone else who is going/gone to TVU so I'm a bit excited. Which campus are you studying at? What are you going to study? <nosey icon needed>

An example of posts on MSE

i did except there apology at the time, but everyone im telling about this are saying to me..."you should take it further" and "dont except the free burger"
i meerly wanted an opinion on this i want to actualy know that it wont happen again. in a resturaunt, you expect to get what you pay for, without the extra's.

It makes my eyes bleed reading stuff like that. I must say the quality of spelling and grammar on hitched is very good compared to some forums.

Having used the Internet for 15 years and now working with it I can assure you that's not computer speak, it's text speak born out of the SMS 160 character restriction. If only they would realise this doesn't actually apply to the Internet and you don't pay more for typing more, plus typing in English doesn't make people think you're a moron without ever meeting you. ?

There's a lot of difference between a bit of lol, rofl, roflmao and pmsl and the indecipherable nonsense above. The above is not a commonly used way of typing at all and in the forums and boards I frequent at least is treated with the derision it deserves.

If you read that kind of typing with regularity I am surprised you don't have a semi-permanent headache and possibly eye bleed.

That's the standard of English we like from people considering becoming undergraduates. Not that university education or the exams and tests to obtain entry are being devalued of course.
