My OH got these pics emailed to him about 6months ago in an email entitled 'Essex wedding' The little oompa loompa in the aisle, wearing her white dress made me laff and loving the woman on her mobile in the second last pic as the (cough) bride makes her entrance.

I have never ever ever seen people dress like that in real life, please dont tell me you have seen girls dressed like that!??

My initial reaction when I saw the pics was HOLY F!! (hitched now recognices the french connection branding as a swear word!)

I watched on TV a while back how a traveller family prepare for their weddings (I am wondering whether this is the actual wedding that was showcased cos the outfits look familiar ?). The bride is not allowed to see her groom unchaperoned before the wedding, usually the bride's father will accompany them everywhere - so no naughty business until the wedding night. They also marry quite young, usually late teens. The outfits that are worn by the bride and all the women (most of them) are custom made and can cost 000's - even the scraps of material they are wearing. The one I watched showed the bride having all her dress fittings and I think she ended up having about 24 netted petticoats underneath - it had to stick right out apparently, and her tiara was about 2ft high. The only trouble was, she couldnt walk down the aisle properly. It is a status thing (for the Dad's) for each successive wedding to be bigger and better than the last - spending hundreds of 000's in some cases - to prove that they are wealthier.

    Each to their own.......

This is a traveller wedding, it was in the papers a while ago, as her dress was soooo heavy!
