Oh drat ... Really annoyed with myself

blossom1985, 18 December, 2011 at 21:44 Posted on Planning 0 9

I haven't taken any pictures of my dress because I didn't want it to be seen by oh accidentally ... But I had to nick a pic of it to send to my friend who is doing my hair ... I totally forgot to delete it off my phone and tonight my oh decides to have a flick through pictures of our son ... I managed to grab the phone off him but he'd already got to the picture of my dress!! I'm gutted ... He said he didn't see any details but I wanted the whole thing to be a surprise!! Feeling a bit deflated now and very annoyed at myself ... I know it's too late now but just needed to vent. Grrrr note to self delete delete delete arghhhhhh!!

Oh no! I can understand your diappointment and frustration. I did something similar, showing OH a bridesmaid dress option (has a bodice similar to mine so that we match). He then says " But the top half is awful". Cue me feeling angry and upset because the top half is almost identical to my wedding dress and he wont like it!

How far away is your wedding? If its more than a couple of months he is very unlikely to remember much about the little pic he saw.

He def won't remember. The details don't really mean much to men I don't think, they more just see it as a whole thing, so he won't remember. My OH has seen a picture of my dress on my phone but I stayed very calm and when he said 'is that your dress' (it's a close up so you can't see my head) I just said, "oh no, that just one we looked at one point, my mum liked the neckline I think, as if I'd have a photo of my dress on my phone for you to see" and moved on ..... hopefully he was fooled......

I can understand why you'd be upset, but I can guarantee that all he will have seen is a long white dress (assuming it's white/ivory etc - they're all white to men!) and nothing of the detail. I also assume that in your photo you haven't got your hair/makeup done etc so the look on the day will be totally different.

Other than buying a new dress, there's absolutely nothing you can do about it now, so just try to forget about it.

Try not to worry. My OH has sort of seen mine, after I flashed here the stupid laptop automatically opened that file when my OH wanted to add some pics to ebay later on, so he kind of 'looked but didn't really see'. I was worried and asked what he had seen and he just said 'I dunno, some kind of white dress...' I didn't bother to explain that it is ivory and sparkly etc! I don't think men will tend to notice the details (I know that is a sweeping generalisation) and I reckon even when we are in the dresses they will still just see 'a white dress' unless we specificallhy point out the actual details. Just forget it and don't stress!

I'd feel exactly the same (and was VERY close to being in the same situation) but he honestly won't remember. Besides, photos of us trying dresses on don't really look anything like we will on the day when it's been made to fit and we've got our hair and make up done. Don't worry - he will still get that 'wow' feeling when he first sees you - I guarantee it!

According to my OH 'they all look the same' - doesn't matter if its a big fluffy thing or something sexy and slinky.

Really, you shouldn't be too bothered as 1. he will forget and 2. once you've got it on with all the other bits and pieces the whole look will be different anyway.

This has also happened to me, sort of. I had my photobucket page up and OH grabbed the laptop when I ran out to take our son to the toilet. He claims he never saw anything, but the photos were RIGHT there! I was pissed, but I guess it's not the end of the world.
