'Oh gosh, im so embarrased!'

Yup- those where the magic words my h2b heard when he popped the quesion!

To elaborate- I had not a single clue an engagement was coming! We had hiked to the top of a mountain in beautiful NZ. He told me to sit and look at the view while he took a picture. When he said he had taken it, everything seemed quiet (was approx 6 other people up there) and I had noticed a silence fall and was abit nervous- with no idea why. He said again he had taken the photo and i turned around to the image of him, down on one knee, ring in hand and 6 faces smiling at me in anticipation. Plus someone videoing too! Automatically I burst into tears and exclaimed 'oh gosh im so embarrassed' hahaha... i was embarrassed because I looked horrendous (I had just hiked up a mountain) and because my first reaction was to cry which i never do. So funny. Of course after that I said yes. The girl videoing was even crying! We always chuckle at the video now!

Anyone else have funny proposal reactions?

I photographed the wedding of a couple who did the same proposal! Theirs was up a mountain in Switzerland.

On the wedding day the bride was amazed to see her cake (the groom had organised much of the wedding as a tribute to her) ... the cake was a green mountain! Hanging behind it was a canvas of the view photo he took from the top of the mountain when he proposed!

Aww that is such a sweet story I love it!

I’d been hoping for a couple of years that OH was going to propose, so when we went on holiday I told myself to not get my hopes up and just enjoy the holiday. He had planned a trip out for the Friday and I wasn’t to ask any questions except that we were planning a picnic. While we were driving there, a small thought crossed my mind, and again I told myself off. Anyway he took me to my favourite English Heritage place where I hadn’t been for years. I was hungry when we got there and wanted to enjoy the view, but he said we were walking round first. When we’d finished we picked a nice spot and started laying the picnic out. I started taking my shoes off, not realising he had got on one knee, and then said “Will you marry me?”. I have never been speechless before, so my (excited) daft reaction was “Are you kidding?!” I flung my arms round him and started crying lol, I don’t think I’ve had happy tears before. About 5 minutes later he reminded me I hadn’t given him an answer, then I said “Yes!”. If I’d had my shoes still on I think I would have ran circuits round the place I was so happy!

Apparently our families were waiting ages for the phone calls, as we were at the bottom of a valley we had no phone signal, it was a few hours later before we told them.

My fiancée proposed at El Morro castle overlooking Havana at night. He got down on one knee and I cried loud snotty tears for about 5 minutes! There were a few people around who I think thought he'd broken up with me!

Well I thought my h2b was going mad because he was acting very strange telling me something was attached to the dog. I tried to diffuse the situation by showing him a photo of a dead dog rug.

It was hilarious, bonkers, sweet and stupid. There was bafflement, laughter and tears.

I must just say I was appalled by the dead dog rug and was not showing it in a look at this marvellous thing way but in an isn't this awful way. But I do rather enjoy that whilst he was trying to propose I was trying to shove a dead dog under his nose (not literally).

I am considering deleting this - I sound quite mad...

I was going to ask him on a romantic weekend, but for various reasons it kept going wrong so in the end I made a card and wrote a poem to give to him at the restaurant I had booked in the city where we'd been to our first live gig together, before we went to see a band. We didn't make it to the restaurant he couldn't get out of work, we raced to the live venue so I gave him the card at the end of the gig. He fell over reading it so didn't read the end just gave it me back and said nothing. Meanwhile I'm fuming thinking "why is he ignoring the question?!" The following morning I'm like "well are you going to answer the question or not?!" He was baffled, "what question?" I gave him back the card, he read it again and went "Oh there was more, sorry". Obviously he said yes followed by, "No wonder you were so pissed". Lol.

Hi all, new to this forum as my OH proposed a week ago. We were going to spend the day together as it had been a year since we got together, we were going to a small village in Derbyshire so we could watch the fireworks from a cave called the Devils Arse. We spent the day in Bakewell and hiked up to a small Castle. Then we went to the Cavern we found a seat and OH kept saying to me shall we go for a wander around the part of the cave we were allowed into. I kept saying no because there weren't that many seats and I didn't want to loose ours. The live music started and we were stood with my back to him and his arms around me just listening to the band and chatting trying to guess what the songs were, as we are both more into our rock music rather than pop and country. When the band had finished everyone had been directed outside to see the fireworks OH said we would let the masses through first. We had our thick gloves on because it was really cold. He put his hand in his pocket and had this box in his hand. He said 'would you like to join me on the next part of our adventure?" I looked at the box and went "what's that?" He opened the box and the ring was illuminated by this little light. We have this thing between us where we say "Maybe" and that was the first thing that came to mind and I said it before saying "of course." Unfortunately he couldn't put the ring on my finger as we were both shivering and had gloves on and luckily we didn't drop it. We went and watched the fireworks in our own little bubble of happiness. Finally got to put the ring on when we got back to the car and I told my Mum, she told me she had been waiting all day for the message and he had asked my Dad's permission first which was something I had always wanted. So that's my proposal story.
