Ok So I know this sounds nuts...Updated.

MrsRegantobe, 22 January, 2010 at 16:47 Posted on Planning 0 29

And i'm no doubt just being daft but i'm tying the knot at my local registry office which is a lovely room and has fab gardens

I'm just worried i'll look over the top in a wedding dress?

I'm not getting anything massive (dress wise) anyway but as I don't no anyone that married in a registry office in a wedding dress, i'm a little stessed that i'll look odd I guess.

Sorry for being so shallow I guess, what do you guys think?

☹️

It's your wedding day, and you should wear what you like! I don't think a wedding dress in a registry office is too much. And even if you do decide it's over the top, it's probably one of the only occasions you can easily get away with being overdressed Smiley smile

Wow thanks for such quick replys ladies!

I do feel a bit better, the only other person I spoke to about my fear of this was my H2B and his answer was the same as all yours but he's not a bride to be.

Mrs Tonner you'll laugh at how not over the top it is: ?and yet i worry!

Lots of Registry Office brides wear wedding dresses - you will be fine! As long as you love your dress and feel comfortable you will feel fine.

Definately not over the top but very simple and elegant. I don't think this would be out of place in a registry office?

I think your dress is perfect for a reg office wedding as well as any other wedding. It's just so elegant and I wish I had the figure to wear it!

Just because you aren't getting hitched in a church or hotel doesn't mean you can't dress up to the nines and look fabulous. Wear it and be proud! x

I used to work in an office next to our local registry office and we all used to oooh and aaaah over the beautiful dresses that the brides wore, never did we say blimey thats a bit much for a registry wedding, and they ranged from simple suits to the biggest meringue you could possibly imagine. A friend also got wed in registry and her dress was pretty flambouant but she looked fabulous, in fact somehow I think she received more compliments because her dress stood out more than it would have in a big church.

Your dress is gorgeous for any setting and its beautiful simplicity will be perfect in reg office.

Delvesje your daughters dress is a beauty!! and I must say that she has a very toned back (wish I had a nice back).

We are having a civil ceremony and I worried if I should dress down as its not a big church wedding but then i thought what the hell its my big day..i should wear what I want and you should too. xxx

Your dress is lovely, it will be perfect. I live opposite a registry office, and most wedding i see the brides are in wedding dresses. I've only seen one which wasn't and it looked a little odd, oh and a few which went to the registry office in the morning with their H and then got dressed up for a 'real' wedding afterward, that was just the legal bit in their eyes. I'm in the pub opposite so they all come in and tell me!

Tee Hee well the most strange thing happened to me today, I was heading into town with H2B and on the way we stop by his mums to get something from her, we get there and her and his sister are stood outside. (We live only 5 min walk away) i'm like oh you going some where? They laugh and say yes so are you, and i get pushed into his mums car and we drive off waving to my H2B as we go. i have no idea what's going on but 45 min later we pull up out side a bridal shop. (I am yet to buy the dress I flashed, it was juts the only one I had liked so far) Anyway they'd only booked me an appointment so i try on a total of five dresses and what do you know, I hear all your posts in my head and Pull on a dress that is big, biggish trains and a veil that hits the floor and cost a £150, and you know what ladies? thanks to all of you. i'm buying it! model Flash Below > I felt like a princesses! ?

    Thank you

Oh WOW what a beautiful dress, you will look stunning. Pleased you bought something you loved rather than something you felt was 'suitable' for reg office.
