Older B2B

delvesje, 7 April, 2009 at 10:00 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi, I am getting married for the second time around in May 2010. I am in my early 50's and was wondering if there are any older b2b out there?

I am enjoying planning our wedding but I am concerned about not making myself look like a teenager.

We are having a church wedding, h2b is wearing a kilt, even though he is a proud welshman, ( He's mother was a Scott so he is wearing it for her).

II have brought my dress which is a Ivory full lenth wedding dress, which I love but am begining to have doubts about, sould I have gone with a coloured dress or even a suit?

Is there anyone out there that can help keep me focused!!!!!!!!

Hi! I'm not older but I have seen so many beautiful dresses out there that are too old for me! I'm not sophisticated enough for them! Smiley sad I'm sure you will look stunning, definitely keep the dress, I'm sure it will be gorgeous. You maybe don't want to look like a teenager but you will feel so special and very elegant in a dress.

Honestly, I can imagine people in some of the dresses I've seen in the shops looking so beautiful, your age will make you look more conifdent and relaxed, not like a silly little girl like me!

All the very best, if you'd like to share photos people on here always love to see them!

    Hi Delvesje

I don't think anyone should be telling you what you should or should not be wearing or doing for your wedding: you dress sounds great but moreover if it's what you have chosen then its the right one. I don't think anyones age should dictate what they do on their special day so I say enjoy it and do exactly what you and OH want ?

I hope you weren't suggesting that I was telling her what to wear! Seriously, if that's the case then it's come out the wrong way. All I was trying to do was say that if she's bought a dress then she should wear it as all brides look beautiful in dresses and there's ones to suit all ages and tastes. As you said Boo76, if she's chosen the dress then it's obviously what she wants so she should wear it!

If you love the dress and it makes you feel a million dollars in it then I think you should go for it. I don't see why age or the fact you've been married before or anything else for that matter should have any bearing on things, it's your special day ?.

I was an older bride, and whilst I did not go for the traditional wedding gown, I had a beautiful black and white ballgown. I felt every inch the queen of the day, as you should.

We no longer have to go down the discreet 2 piece road any longer, a bride is a bride and be queen for the day.

Look forward and enjoy every minute

If you want a coloured dress or a suit go for it, but not because you think you should because that's what older brides should do. My Aunt got married last summer for the first time at 50. She wore a full length slinky ivory dress and looked fabulous, it certainly wasn't too young for her! Please don't worry about things like that, as long as you feel comfortable in it that's all that matters. If you want a coloured dress or a suit go for it, but not because you think you should because that's what older brides should do.

    Welcome to Hitched ?

There is no written rule that older brides must wear something other than a gorgeous ivory/white dress, it's still your wedding day!, if you feel comfy in it then wear it ?

You got any pics you can show us?

I think you can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. It is your day and time to celebrate. Don't worry too much about that. Enjoy the moments!

I have got an ivory princess style dress, which is also really sparkly (think it's an age thing with the sparkles) and a tiara and a veil, it did occur to me for a few seconds hmmm maybe I shouldn't be wearing this, it's my second time but then I thought nahh I will wear what I want and if people frown or tut then sod 'em ! It's my first marriage to my partner so why should he have a second best bride iykwim.

So wear what you want, I am sure you will look amazing, off to google your dress now ?
