OM Post- What do I do with my dress now?????

Lottie87, 1 September, 2011 at 17:55 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi All,

Will post my report when I have time- just got back from honeymoon yesterday ?

So what did you do with your dress after the big day? I can't bear to think of just putting it in the loft but at the same time I think my HUSBAND would think I'd gone mad if I started to wear it around the house!!!

L Xxx

Well, the morning after the wedding I picked mine up from the floor where it had been left, rolled it up into a small ball and dropped it at my Moms... I hope she then hung it up but can't confirm or deny that. ?

My plan is to do a "Rock the frock" shoot with H in some local woodlands - just to show off the dress a little bit more. After that, well, it'll probably go into the loft until I need a christening gown.

Julybride and LM I love the idea of rock the frock. I didn't really like my photo being taken before the big day but I think I'm just used to it now ?

LM have I missed your report? I really hope not!

First time round I cut it up to make cushion covers. This time round, i've bought a dress I can wear again and again.

Friends who are now OMs, gave theirs to charity shops

    I am selling mine.

I got to wear it twice and it is just to big to display, and too beautiful to spend its life in a box.

I don't think I could bare to give mine away - i'm too selfish.

No report as yet Lottie - i've started and on me just about being ready for church but it's like 10xA4 pages and as much as I want to record all that detail for myself, not sure everyone else is interested so once i've finished it in my "diary" style i'll cut it down and into a report.

I think I'm the same- I'm actually really upset that I can't wear it again. Maybe I'll change my mind after a few years but for now I'm thinking rock the frock and then a life in a box until I come to a decision ?

    Thanks for your help ladies!

My mum saved hers for 25 years in the hope that one of her daughters would wear it at their wedding.

Unfortunately, she was a very petite size 6 when she got married and none of her children are smaller than a 10!! I think I could just about fit my thigh in it. It's a shame really because it's a beautiful dress Smiley sad

I'm likely to keep mine in my memories box Smiley smile

I am hoping to do an 'intimate boudoir' type shoot after the wedding with hubby in tow. Then it will be getting stored away until we start a family. The plan is to make it into a Christening gown. I will be saving my veil etc in the hope I have a daughter who may want to wear it. Unfortunately for me I was hoping to wear my grandmothers veil but when my mum got it down from the loft it had been moth eaten Smiley sad My mum kept her wedding dress in the hope I would wear it someday but it was way too small (I'm taller than her!) xx

    Hi Lottie,

I've just started a new job, so all a bit hectic. We're in the calm before the storm, so at the moment I'm looking forward to it?

How was your day & honeymoon? And how is the new job?

    x
