OMFG!

BarcaGirl25, 7 February, 2013 at 21:42 Posted on Planning 0 12

Ok so anyone who saw my evil FSIL post a week or so back will know just how difficult my OH's family is.

NOW I have been told I really must stop talking about the wedding, no not to them I never tell them anything anymore as it will only be criticised, but to anyone! As they say its MILES away (4 may 2014) and really anything could happen. For that read: we may convince him to not marry you.

I'm not worried about my OH, we are solid as a rock and I have no fears there. All they are doing is pushing him away from them, not me, I'm just so super pi$$ed off with the whole situation.

i don't know how to win with this situation!

Then do it! My fsil has decided to do that, just the two of them, somewhere exotic.... Avoiding family politics on fbils side. Shame we won't get to share their day but am happy for them..... Keeps costs down, get honeymoon in at the same time, no arsy family input..... At the end of the day it's about the marriage over the wedding.... Think I'd be sorely tempted in your shoes. Feel for you hun :0( sending cuddles your way..... And a virtual vino or two xx

Thanks, you are such a sweetheart!

as much as I'd love to do that to his family I just couldn't do it to my mum or my gramps who is giving me away I just want to see him so proud of me on my big day!

if they try to interfere any more tho I may have to rethink haha!

thanks for the virtual vino, yey to the real think tomorrow :-)

    xx

After reading that I'm sat here seething on your behalf so god knows how you must be feeling!

Just take deep breaths and try not to kill any of them. But if you REALLY want to pi$$ them off, carry on talking about the wedding and act act sickly sweet and nice to them. It will really pi$$ them off if they think they arent getting to you and that you dont care.

I've mastered the art of making something so simple as saying thank you have the "f***" you heavily implied in the tone and smile. You know you have nailed it when they glare at you because they know exactly what you really mean but cant prove it.

Give it a try, it feels really satisfying, especially when they know what the thank you really means.

I remember your evil FSIL post !

You could always use this as a blessing in disguise that they have handed you on a plate !!

Plan what you want and involve who you like ! don't discuss anything with them or anyone they are likely to hear it from , by the time they get round to being interested again you can tell them that they left you no choice but to plan things without their "help" or input so if they don't like what you have planned then its their own fault ! and if they REALLY don't approve of your plans they are perfectly entitled to decline your invite ?

Ball will be in their court then.

WIN WIN for you ! ?

Kitcat10210 and 2b_MrsB thank you! Sometimes I think I am the crazy one!

I intend to retain the moral high ground and as my darling mother says "imagine Mount Everest is your high ground, you don't want to have to climb it again do you?" Haha! Love her!

i will be lovely and sweet and not tell them a thing :-) my family is just so happy for us both!

    Thanks lovelies!

    Xx

Personally I think you have got the patience of a saint. If i were you I would have decked the FSIL and told the FMIL where she can insert her wedding hat by now.

Hahahahahahahaha!! I needed that laugh poppet you really made me belly chuckle!

oh how I want to do that! If I didn't love my OH so much I might well have! Don't worry tho, my gramps isn't known for his tact and his (grand)father of the bride speech should be interesting!

I feel for you, family dynamics seem to cause big problems when it comes to wedding planning. I have the same in my family, haven't spoke to m mum since last summer despite effort made on my part. As we are getting married abroad we sent our save the dates at the start of this week, as she didn't know prior to this I got engaged I expected a phone call, but nothing.

I'm getting stuck into planning with people who care, sod everyone else?
