Why have you got second thoughts???? Have you seen something else or what?

I did this too. I was never 100% in the first place so I don't know why I did it... Fortunately I explained my situation and the woman took pitty on me and offered to give me some of my deposit back. Obviously it depends why you feel this way, do you think you rushed into your decision?

I'm not really sure but it is slightly different from the other few I liked, the shape I like but the detail I'm not sure about now , Wondering if I rushed into it after the hassle I've had finding what I want in the right sample size...or maybe I'm just being silly !! ?

If you are not sure why don't you go to the same shop and ask if you can use the deposit you have already given, to order a different dress? Maybe they could do that? Be in tears as well lol! I don't see why they would mind, its the same shop you are still buying for them! Maybe they would let you change the order?

Yup, sounds familiar. I did this because, out of some 8 dresses I tried on in one day only one fitted me so I felt the pressure to take it before someone else took it (it wasn't available to order). If I were you I would call the shop and ask if you could try it again and perhaps a few others. Just be honest with them - they should let you transfer your deposit.

Don't worry hun it will all be ok, just call them as you said and I am sure they won't mind, they are there to help! Plus they'd rather do that for you and get some more money off you by selling you a dress rather than you losing your small deposit and going elsewear lol It will be ok and you will find the dress that you love. I didnt have second thoughts with mine but I had in my head exactly what I wanted! At this point now I just avoid looking at any others in case there is any new ones that I might like more lol lol lol

Don't you have 7 days to change your mind and get a full refund (even for a deposit) under the sale of goods act?

    You might have something there.

Just need to workout if I really am having second thoughts now, its such a big thing! I'm not normally like this, I usually make a decision and stick with it but there is part of me that's just scared I've pick the wrong one ?

I had wobbles mere hours after putting a deposit on my dress! But not so much about the dress itself, more the speed in which I did it, because I only looked in one shop. I didn't feel the need to look any further at the time, but then afterwards kept thinking what if? I slept on in and the next day I was happy again, and now I'm looking forward to August when it comes in ?

If you really dislike your choice, I think you should definately call them up and see what they say about switching deposits to another dress, like the others said. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end ?

Give them a call honey first thing in the morning before they get a chance to place the order with the manufacturers and as the others say, just be honest with them.

Only 6 days to go now til I open my shop and really truly hope to alleviate some of exactly the same problems as you have been having struggling to find the correct size of sample. Was looking at my lovely dresses the other day as I was hanging them tentatively on the rails and even the size 24s and 26s look beautiful!

Dont worry over this, im sure the shop owner will be sympathetic

Hardly slept last night worrying over this!

This is the original dress I liked but couldn't find in a sample near my own size so didn't want to order.( would have removed faffy bit on the hip)

This was the next one, similar shape but again faffy bits ! to remove it would have made the dress too plain.

This is the one I left deposit on ! no faffy bits ?, but this morning I know what I'm worried about- it's taffetta were as the other two are satin and they have a softer look to them. Which I think make them hang differently.

EBB the dress is off the peg so doesn't need to be ordered, I had to put deposit down to have it removed from sales floor and I think this made me panic a little. Feel its only fair to add that the staff were really helpful not pushy.

Am I being too picky ? looking for fault were there is none ?

    Advice please ladies !

    L x

You're having wobbles which is normal but you cant rely on us give our opinions and it just won't be enough reassurance. I think you should call and explain that you have had a sleepless night and ask if you can pop back in and try it on again...

They are closed Mondays & Tuesdays so will have to be another couple of sleepless nights unfortunately, I wasn't planning on returning til next Thursday, its a 3hour round trip but I'm willing to do it before if necessary.

Had a look into deposits on the sale of goods act and as far as I can see they are non returnable unless agreed other wise or the goods can not be provided.

I lost some of my deposit but don't regret it as every time I think back to that first dress I know I made the right decision. How much was the deposit? Is there any way you can try and find another dream dress to try in the next day or two which you can compare it against? It's so hard isn't it? The problem is, you don't even know that you'd like the fabric of the dress you've not tried on yet..until you have tried it on you cant say for sure. Sometimes it is a case of better the devil you know.. X

Deposit of £300, they normally took 50% deposit but I managed to get them to accept 1/3.

Normally I'm really practical and don't rush into things, but seem to have forgot this yesterday. I'm soooo ! annoyed at myself now ?

Hmm, I like your dress. Also, a couple of things about taffeta - it's lighter and cooler than satin, and it also has more shape to it, so you're less likely to need underskirts. If it's a summer wedding, I'd stick with the taffeta tbh.

I think that dress is lovely! I prefer it to the other ones definately. It might be because Im not a fan of satin and my dress is taffeta! Love the detail, not to blingy, just subtle enough.

I have to say I prefer the dress you've put the deposit on. I'm not a fan of satin & I think your dress has a lovely shape to it. I wobbled when I first got mine. I think part of it is due to spending such a lot of money on one outfit, it is scary!!

I'm another that prefers your dress to the other two, but I don't like satin. Your dress has a much better shape to it.

Perfectly normal to have wobbles, I have them all the time then fall back in love with my dress again when I remember how it made me feel when I had it on.

If your not feeling any better definitely go and try it on again.

Well I like them all! lol I do prefer satin, my dress is satin, but they all look really nice! Do call them and explain the situation though and ask them to go in and try them all again! See what you feel happier with! It has to be what YOU like the most. At least they are all the same style though!

I think they are all lovely but I prefer the taffeta. It has a lot more structure to it and satin can be quite shinny. My dress is Satin but it's a completely different style of dress?

The only other difference I can see between them is the neckline which you can have altered a bit if you did want it to be more plunging, than sweetheart.

Deffo go back and try it again and see if they will use your dipossit on a different dress, I'm sure they will cause they won't want to lose your custom ? x

    Thanks Ladies,

Not sure I'm feeling any calmer about this yet ( still have this sick to the stomach feeling I've made a mistake).

I did comment at the time that the taffeta was much lighter and therefore easier to move around in as I am getting married in June (hoping for weather similar to what we have at the moment0. Also preferred the little bit of bling as it wasn't OTT but more me than the faffy bits on the other dress and the dipped bust line is actually better for my shape too. So thank you all for reminding me of these factors.

Hope your wobbles have settled a little now. I think its a beautiful dress and if today's weather is anything to go by you will certainly be better off in a taffeta dress.

    Keep your chin up honey

    Thanks EBB,

I have calmed down today, got some sleep last night so that will have helped. Was still super stressed over it last night, even tried to get my OH to look at pic of the dress so he could re-assure me !! but he was having none of it said that he knows I'll pick the right one for me and he couldn't careless if he marries me in a bin liner. He did say that I had mentioned the deposit was movable when I came out the shop. so if he recalls this correctly then it's not such a disaster if it's not "the dress" as they had LOADS to choose from, not just brides dresses but BMs, MOB outfits and accessories aswell so even if the worst comes to the worst and i don't buy my dress from them I should have no problem spending my deposit anyway ! .....Massive panic over ! ?
