OMG.....THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO!!!!

The Future Mrs T, 18 September, 2012 at 14:13 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi Everyone!

I did introduced myself after we got engaged 2months ago but wedding planning went on hold as loads of other things going on! Anyway back on the case now!

We have chosen the 22nd May 2014 as our "possible" date, seen a few venues and forund one I absolutely love! Picked a Thursday because we hope this will allow us to barter more to get more for our money!

My OH & I went to the SECC Wedding Fair at the weekend and I am completely bamboozled! There is so much to chose from...not sure where to start and everything costs a fortune! lol!

Got myself a ticker and was shocked when it said 1year 8months 4days to go! Doesnt seem that far away lol!

Anyway looking forward to getting to know you all and see how your planning is coming along!?

Lists are your friend Smiley smile

You'll find it loads easier once you've got a venue and date set and then things like your dress which influence the style of things.

Ha ha it seems ages away now but before you know it, it will be here! I can't believe that my wedding is weeks away, I'm not sure when it got so soon!

Re-welcome by the way Smiley smile I agree with lists, also I made a spreadsheet that included costs of everything, depositis paid, when things are due... OH laughed at first but it's the only thing that's kept us on track!

Wedding fairs are great for inspiration but you don't always find the cheapest suppliers there. My tip is look around online a lot, ask on here, and don't forget good old faithful eBay - God knows where I'd be without it!

Good luck with the planning, and have fun!! xxx

Ha ha definitely! We didn't have any savings when we booked, we've done a 'save-as-you-go' type wedding, and I must admit it's cost more than we budgeted for. I can't wait not to be so skint after the wedding ha ha! It will all be worth it on the day though Smiley smile xxx

My dad is very traditional and Mum has hinted that they would "pay" but to the extent of which I dont know!

My OH parents have also mentioned "saving up" for it! But again I'm not sure what for!

Also I really want to fund a large portion ourselves because then we can have more control.....so keen to buy my dress, his ring etc etc

Also planning a honeymoon fund instead of wedding gifts etc...we already live together so I have enough towels! ?

Ohh lovely, that's great! Our parents both put towards it but we've paid the majority, but it's great to have a helping hand Smiley smile

We've asked for money towards our honeymoon too! We just don't have the money for one, and as we've been waiting to live together for a long time we've bought everyhting we could possibly need for our house (except furniture!) so now it's just a waiting game to see if we get enough! So exciting Smiley smile xx

There really is alot to do and I sometimes get a little shell shocked with it all and have to sit back and write lists, make spread sheets, colour code and prioritise (a little ocd i know) Good luck with the planning and enjoy all the exciting decision making, it the paying and stressing and trying to organise many awkward people that is the difficult bit! ? Enjoy and welcome to hitched xxxx
