OMs - Crying on the big day!

MrsA2012, 13 June, 2012 at 13:27 Posted on Planning 0 30

So I've always been a crier when watching emotional films, comic relief etc. However, it seems to have gone to a new level since getting engaged. I can't read a wedding report or watch an episode of DTTB without have a considerable amount of tears.

I'm just worried that I'll be like this on the big day or will the excitement of the day help me keep it together.

Just after some reassurance more than anything that I won't end up looking like a blubbering idiot! lol

Thanks!

Two words - waterproof and mascara!

Noone's going to think you're an idiot for crying on your wedding day, it just shows how much it all means to you! I'm not a crier normally but since getting engaged I'm so loved up I often find myself welling up when I'm watching romantic gestures on TV. Even some songs make me feel like I wanna burst into tears!

    Gotta love us women eh!

I was a mess during the build-up and cried into my breakfast on the morning of the wedding.

But after that, all I did was smile... so much so my face hurt!

LOL I'm just the same I blub really easily, always have done, overly sensitive I think. I think I cried for 3 days the first ever time I saw Titantic ? I was worried about crying on the big day (and spoiling my makeup!) but strangely enough I didn't shed one tear. I think I was just too happy and excited!

When we went to view our photos the next day I was back to normal and had to fight the lump in my throat hehe!

I'm dreading this too because I too cry at the opening of a paper bag. That said, I didn't cry when my daughter was born! Weird hey!

Fingers crossed this is me too.

Added waterproof mascara to my list. Fortunately the waterproof version of my normal one has good reviews.

I had another emotional moment this morning thinking about what I am going to write in the BM cards!

It must have been the Bean juice in your eyes making you cry then?

I know I'm going to blub!

Probably a silly question but been wondering though - where do you keep your tissues?? Won't be holding my clutch bag at that stage & can hardly put it up my sleeve (have none) or down the side of my knickers!! Don't really want it poking out of my bra either! What did any OMs reading this do?

I thought that I would be a wreck. i had a few wobbles, like when I opened the present from my Mum and read her good luck card, when I saw my Dad in his suit and when I was saying my vows. I just took a moment, a deep breath and I was fine. And then I couldnt stop smiling!

I consider myself to be cool and calm but the minute my pianist started playing Luther vandross, the tears came and I cried walking up the aisle. I felt an idiot but the guests thought it was sweet and set them off too! Just tried not to do my cry face as i was being filmed so forced a smile!

I was close on 2 occassions but I held it together. Thankfully, the OH isn't into his make up / mascara ? because he was a right sap, losing it when the music started and during most of the ceremony too...bless him. I didn't expect him to be so tearful.

I am emotional wreck at films too. Yet the only time i cried during the day was when i walked into the room i was meeting my dad in and saw him. He looked more nervous than i felt took one look at me and burst into tears which set me off. That over with we walked in and I was fine.

I hope i don't as i tend to go a bit puffy/red when i do. Some times I'm overly emotional and sometimes nothing could make me teary ( from my mum, she definitely won't cry!! ) but music is one thing that can set me off, stupidly enough I have picked a song to walk in to and it makes me really teary listening to it, hopefully not on the day!!

I was also sitting in the registrars office picking vows and I was about in tears. My OH is totally calm but he cried when he proposed so i reckon he'll have a wee tear!!

The waterproof mascara has been purchased though!!

On the morning of the wedding I was mostly calm, I filled up when my flowers were delivered cos they had my granny's eternity ring attached. I filled up again when I showed them to my grandad. When my aunt and uncle (who are really only very close family friends) arrived I could here them downstairs and when I came down in my dress my uncle started bubbling, so that set my aunt off, my mum off and then me! That was the only real full on tears I shed in the morning. After that I filled up a bit when my BMs went off in their car cos it all felt so real, but I quickly composed myself.

At the church I was totally calm, everyone was surprised cos my voice usually wobbles and I go red when public speaking but I was just so happy that it went perfectly. No tears whatsoever, I was so proud of myself.

The only other time I properly cried was the toast to absent friends. i actually cried before it was said as I knew it was coming, it killed me that my granny wasn't there and I just couldn't stop the tears at that point in fact so much so I couldn't even say the toast, I just raised my glass! It was awful haha

No one really reacted though, I think its expected for the bride to bubble at some point. It's a real rollercoaster of emotions on the day, just try to enjoy them! xx

I am really quite worried that I'll be a blubbering wreck. I was watching some hospital documentary on TV last night and I was crying like a baby, I'm not sure if it's because it was emotional or I'm just a big wuss at the moment?! Did anyone else feel like they suddenly became a cry baby?

I'm a big crier but didn't cry excessively on my wedding day. There were moments where it started to creep up but I managed to compose myself for the most part.

For the most part I was completely grinning and no tears in sight. only time i cried was when my sis in law sang - and i think that's just because it was so good, not because of it being my wedding. my bestwoman had tissues, but as it happened OH had some because he expected me to cry, so he just handed me one Smiley smile i think he would have thought i didn't care if i didn't cry, give how i cry at absolutely anything.

This has just made me cry - my nan died March just gone (I'm wearing her ring as my engagement ring) and I'm still devastated that she never knew about my impending marriage (crikey, here I go again, haha!) so I think I'll be similar. I'm not making a speech at my wedding but I think my dad or uncle will mention my nan which will most definitely set me off!

    *goes to get tissues* ?

I cried in the morning when giving my Mum and Dad their presents and opening the card from H. My Cousin gave me my Nans wedding ring to wear which also set me off. However once we left I literally didnt stop smiling all day long! I dont think I stopped till we got back from honeymoon, its the best!
