OMs - did your H get you a gift on your wedding day?

Nenas, 5 January, 2012 at 09:21 Posted on Planning 0 24

My OH asked this morning if we were going to get each other gifts for the wedding. I said I had one thing in mind for him, but he said he has no idea what to get for me. I said I'd be happy with a card with a nice little message in, but he wanted some ideas for gifts...

I have a necklace to wear already and don't wear earrings, so they're out, but could you give me/him an idea of what, if anything, your H got you?

I've told him I won't read the rest of this thread to keep any ideas a surprise, so he'll be reading any replies Smiley smile

TIA

    Yes he did.

He brought me earings, necklace and bracelet from Tiffany to wear on the day.

No. But then I wasn't expecting one - without reading threads on H I wouldn't have thought about it either.

I did buy him some though - a watch, a bottle of champers and a dvd of old photos of us.

I'm not sure what I'm going to get OH yet - we have got the best men pocket watches and I think OH is hankering after one Smiley smile

For me he wants to get me a pearl tiffany necklace and matching bracelet - but I've told him I want a pearl pendant necklace and sent him some links so I know its something I will like/match my dress but still a surprise of which he will pick Smiley smile

H bought me a little heart shaped ring box for the ceremony with our names and the date inscribed inside. He made sure when he bought it that the foam bit for the rings was removable so I can use it as a jewellery box now.

I bought him a heavyish silver chain to wear his ring on as he loses circulation and gets shooting pains right up his arm if he wears it for more than a few hours.

I have asked for two things:

    a) a CD to play in the morning while getting ready

    b) a bracelet to wear on the day. All I have said is that I am wearing pearls so maybe it could match and that I don't care if he buys it from Claire's Accessories or Tiffanys as it will be from him so it doesn't matter about price

No, he doesn't like buying me surprises. He bought me a silver ring from Tiffany when we got back from honeymoon though, which I wear on my right hand.

We decided not to exchange presents as we felt we had already spent so much on the wedding without buying presents as well. We also felt we didn't need any other 'momentos' from the day as a wedding ring, photos and all the memories were quite enough to remind us of a very special day for the rest of our lives.

Obviously if he did get me a bracelet from Tiffany, I would be very impressed! ? I nearly died when I thought I'd lost the necklace my brother bought me for my 21st ?

Are you wearing a garter? Perhaps a little charm or something you can attatch and keep with you through the day- for something blue maybe, you can use it after too by attaching it to a bracelet.

Obviously! I just agreed with your comment about the price not being relevant. It's all about the thought.

    Exactly!

When do you give the present? Before you leave each other or get someone to give them on the morning? I bet it's so emotional opening the card, etc.

With the stress of the day before, my plan of giving it to him the night before failed. So he had his present on the morning of the day after!!!

I think this is a wonderful idea - then it'll be a scent that will take you back to your wedding day for the rest of your life ?

I left his with his mum the day before and she gave it for him the morning of the wedding. He gave mine to my bridesmaids when he arrived at the venue.

The card he gave me made me cry. Very emotional.

    Hello,

    its chocolate_e's OH here!!!

Thank you for the suggestions. Jewellery is a tough thing as I think she already has everything she needs for the big day. I like the idea of the ring box tho that can double up as a little jewellery box.

If anyone has any further ideas I'm all ears.

    Cheers v much 'Hitchers'.

We gave each other cards but no gifts. He gave mine to my chief BM to give to me in the morning; I tried to hide his in his suit but then he got his suit out the day before to show his dad, so my surprise was ruined!

I am planning to get my OH some cufflinks, possibly with malachite in them as our main colour for the day is green. I have been dropping hints about a sparkly handbag for the day... OH isn't good at picking up hints tho!
