OMs did your suppliers email or send you letters for payment?

charlottelucy, 6 June, 2012 at 13:52 Posted on Planning 0 4

As the title says really, did you wait for suppliers to email or send you letters chasing for their final payments or did you pay them before this happened? I'm assuming they will get in contact with me when payment is due but dont want to risk it and they run off with our deposits!

We use an automated system to send out a reminder 1 week before the balance is due, but we also call about the same time to go through final details as things can change from the initial booking stage to the final day.

Most people i know do tend to send an email when the balance is due.

I emailed all my suppilers with 2 months (or was it 3 months?) to go just to make sure everything was on course. I then waited for them to contact with details of my final payments, which they all did

Bit of a mixture really. I was early with quite a few payments so the suppliers didn't have a chance to get in contact with me! With others, I had a paper or email invoice. There was only one payment I was late with and that was because the supplier hadn't got in touch with me (it was the final payment as we were paying in installments so the bulk had already been paid) - instead I contacted them to ask when the payment was due and they realised that they hadn't reminded me. Just keep an eye on things and make sure you know roughly when payments are due. A colour-coded spreadsheet helps!
