OMs - Flash me your tea length dresses pretty please?

Cat In A Teacup, 13 August, 2013 at 17:27 Posted on Planning 0 33

Yesterday I took a friend to do a sneaky bit of preliminary dress shopping, just for fun, as you do when you still have 2 years to wait!

I fell in love with an Ivory & Co tea length dress, the only problem is that both my OH and mum have said to them it looks a bit more 'flower girl' than 'bride'.

So can all of you lovely OMs who had a tea length dress flash away so I can show them some real brides wearing them?

Thanks in advance!

One of our brides recently had a tea length dress which was lovely, we've just put some of the pictures on Facebook so have a look here. She teamed it with Converse later on in the day which looked fab as well!

    Oh go on then... ?

I had exactly the same fears that my dress wasn't 'bridal' enough - especially as mine was a coffee colour. All the fears were completely unfounded. I would never choose a different dress if I could have my wedding a million times.

Video link in my report if you want to look at that too (link in sig).

This. Mine were built into the dress.

I love the ones that have coloured petticoats underneath though too- if my dress had less detail and colour in it I would have considered that.

They are all beautiful! It's making me want a tea length more and more. We are getting married in the woods so I am thinking that it will be more practical that a BM constantly being on call to de-twig the train on a full length dress!

kharv - am I correct in thinking yours is Justin Alexander?

Mini - what designer is yours? I love the belt detail.

To reiterate Cat in a cups's request, Mini, where did you get it from? Most of the tea length dresses I've found, are online purchase only - really want to go in somewhere and actually try one.

    Many thanks,

    L

Mine's an ivory version of Kharv's Justin Alexander - would have loved the coffee coloured one, but I ended up getting mine second-hand so couldn't be too picky. I'm really happy with it Smiley smile It's coming back from seamstress on Thursday and I get to wear it for real a week on saturday! Smiley smile

I love this thread! Tea length dresses are my ultimate favourite, as a 5'2" skinny minny the thought of a huge princess dress or long train just doesn't appeal to me! (Although people keep telling me I will end up getting a dress completely opposite to what I imagine!)

Oh wow! I am only half hour from Brighton. It looks like I may be paying her a visit soon Smiley smile

Is it cheeky for me to ask what kind of price bracket your dress was in Mini?

Cat shoes - Where is yours from/who by? I love it!

This is the downside to this thread, I have now seen photos of at least 4 'perfect for me' dresses!

Really glad to hear this, because I honestly do think I know what style I will have and it does irritate me a little bit when everyone says I'll end up with different! I've been dressing myself for the best part of 27 years, I think I know what suits me! ?

Your dress is amazing btw Catshoes, absolutely gorgeous.
