OM's Question - wedding night

cookiekat, 2 October, 2011 at 20:08 Posted on Planning 0 42

Now this may be a personal but..... got to ask somewhere!

MY H2B think the wedding night is going to be the hottest steamiest night ever... he is already hugley disappointed that I wont be wearing corsets/ stockings and mega sexy undies on the day ( backless silk dress that shows every mark -I will be in sloggies lol) and I suspect that by the end of the day we will be too exhausted to get up to a page by page of the karma sutra.

So the question is... Is the wedding night super steamy or is it saved up for the honeymoon??

Ours was much more towards the first ?

BUT, the best way you'll know if - what do you do after a long long night out? If you come home and crash out then that's probably what you'll do. If you come home and have a steamy one, then I'd recon, it's be a steamy one!

Was too worse for wear and sleepy to do anything, after spending 20 mins taking pins out of my hair and hoiking me out of my dress getting involved was the last thing on either of our minds- I have been on the go for 20 hours by that point and drunk what can only be described as a large amount of white wine.

P.S LOVE being able to answer the OM questions now ?

We went to bed and read our guest book - too tired and drained to do anything. It was nice to just chat and reflect on our day as it was the only time we had to ourselves.

We were far too pissed to do anything when we went to bed but we more than made up for it in the morning!

It was pretty fab, but the second night was better - took less time to get undressed and we weren't both absolutely shattered! ?

Like Mini, I am pleased to be able to answer OM questions Smiley smile

Super steamy wedding night? Nah, not a chance. Several reasons, in no particular order: 3 am to bed, groom hammered, took ages to get my hair out, similar unsexy underwear issue (with thoughts of changing the last thing on my mind). Plus, the events preceding our wedding had left us both emotionally shattered and we just, sad to say, had a little cry and a cuddle on the side of the bed.

But like Tricks, we made up for it the next morning Smiley smile

See we were so tired the next morning - way more exhausted than the night itself as we were running off of excited energy the wedding night. We settled to sleep probably at 3:15ish and were up at 7am!

I don't want to give TMI but Garters are sexy, which lets you off on the undies a bit. My CBM bless her didn't get the traditions we tried to instill in her and thought she had to wear a garter too - haha. Her BF liked it rather a lot from the reports haha.

The wedding night we were too exhausted, by the time we got me out of my dress and hundreds of pins out of my hair we just collapsed on the bed!

    Next morning was another story!

For us, it was much the case of morning after the night before Smiley winking on the night, we had a few close friends and family ('bout 12 in total) back to our room for more drinks and to open out cards and presents as we were off on honeymoon the next day!

I took my "wedding undies" on honeymoon and wore them on one of the nights when they could be appreciated Smiley smile

We thought we would be too drunk and tired but we got carried away and it was some of the best ever! I think that is because neither of us expected it so there was no pressure.

So glad to see we were not the only ones who were too tired on the wedding night! But we did make up for it in the morning.

I'm in the minority then. We took a couple of drinks up to our room with us after everyone had left, around 12.30am, opened all of the cards and reminisced. Not too tired at all.

    You youngsters......

We were too tired to do anything. After taking out a gazillion hair pins & waiting for Mr S to work out how to undo my dress, we had a bath (was a huge double bath) and drank champagne talking about the day. Then bed and it wasn't until we got to Thailand that we did rood things.

I'll always remember this discussion in one of the wedding magazines. One of the male journalists said "Why would I get excited about unwrapping a present I have opened many times before?" when asked if he would be doing the deed on his wedding night.

    Keeper, that one.

I'll join navychick in the majority minority (blinking baby brain...) then. There would have been no time in the morning and we both fell straight to sleep the evening after as well so am pleased we did on the wedding night.

Steamy one! Despite a 4am finish and half hour to undo my dress. It really didn't matter what the underwear was like (slightly pretty but more practical)

We were both quite happily pissed, fab room and bed but our three year old was fast asleep in it..so a complete no. I would not have left my guests to have a fumble and i don't think i would have managed in my dress.

After a 15 hour "on the go" all day, that was the last thing we felt like when we retired to our room at 11pm then tried to undo my new wife's big dress and get all the hair pins, clips etc out.

We looked through our guest book, had a shower, and cuddled up and went to sleep just after midnight. With a 200 mile drive ahead of us the next day, there wasn't any time the next morning either as we had to go down and share breakfast with our guests that had stayed over, then finish clearing away our bits from the day before, figure out what we needed to take and what we could send back with other family members - and of course vacate our room by 11am.

Why rush the consummation? We have the rest of our lives together for that sort of thing. Surely it's much better to have a nice quality intimate hour or so with no pressure than a quickie fumble that neither of you feel particularly satisfied after but felt that you "had to" just because. We keep telling each other "our day, our way" and that we don't have to have, for example, a traditional wedding cake because relatives expect it - so why have sex on the night because "it's expected"?

For most couples these days their wedding night is not their "first time" anyway so the actual importance of consummation has very much lost its relevance.

My brother is notorious for sleeping in the bathroom when he is drunk, and did just that on his wedding night! My SIL says he got into bed at about 6am and tried it on, which was greeted with an elbow in his ribs! lol

I suspect I will be too tired, but love the idea of sneaking off in the day!!!!!

Well i have to admit we were both hammered, at first i had to run back downstairs to my mum in the bar because my OH really had no idea how to undo my dress, but once my OH managed the rest of it it made it even more romantic and the gater went down an absolute treat and we both soon sobered up and i have to admit best steamy night of our relastionship yet.. but it was just as steamy on our honeymoon Smiley smile
