OMs WDYD

GregorsGirl60, 10 February, 2013 at 20:01 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hello,

One for the OMs here, or those with weddings just around the corner.

We've just about had all of our RSVPs back and as its on a Friday more people than we expected declined. Our contract says we need at least 90% of the number of adult guests we originally said. We are now about five people short.

There are loads of evening guest we'd love to have originally had as day guests, so bumping up the numbers is no problem - I was just wondering about etiquette as these people know theyve only been invited to the evening so far.

What did you do?

Thanks in advance

We are going to stagger the sending of our day and evening invites to avoid this predicament.

However in your situation I would just be honest.

We were just honest and said that some of my family had declined and we would love it if they could join us all day. The person in question was delighted.

I would be honest and tell the people that they were on you're "would really have like to have if numbers were not restrictive list " . I'm sure it's true and not much else you can say if they already know that they are evening only . I would think people would be pleased.

Bump people up (phone call will do) or put an open invitation poster up in your workplaces. Either will work.

We called people to say that someone had pulled out (the best man!) and we would live it if they could now be day guests?

We didn't want separate evening guests but in your situation I'd do what the others have suggested. Just be honest - I'm sure people will be delighted to attend.
