OMs! What did you do with all of your wedding stuff?!

Milly_Bride, 13 September, 2015 at 11:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

Hello! I got married on 5th September, and currently have a house full of wedding stuff! We did a lot of DIY decorations, so as well as wedding cards we have reams of paper bunting, candle holders, lanterns, painted frames, tissue paper from making paper pompoms etc...

I'm not sure any of it is really nice enough to sell, what did you all do with it? Do I just need to suck it up and throw things away? Did you find a special way of keeping or displaying decorations from your wedding? We got people to sign the backs of postcards as our wedding guest book so I need to figure out a way of displaying those nicely too!

Can you pack a box of lanterns and bunting away (like Xmas trimmings lol!) so that if you ever have a summer party in the garden you can use it. Or give some away for friends for the same purpose. Be it birthday, anniversary or even your childs birthday! Who needs an excuse for a get together/party. Be nice to see some of it again especially if you don't feel it's good enough to sell on.

Good idea! Would be nice to be able to decorate the place for a party or get together so it looks a bit different Smiley smile I'm not sure I need 50 whole meters of bunting though ?

Haha maybe a friend would like some too. Maybe places like local old peoples homes might have garden parties and like peoples left over bunting even.

After my first wedding I packed a lot of decorations etc away in the loft as I wasn't sure what to do with them. A couple of years later my best friend got married so I gave it all to her to recycle as they didn't have a lot of money and she's a bit crafty anyway so it saved her having to scrimp and save on decor.

no idea what happened to it all after that though.

We didn't seem to have that much left over. All out centerpeices and favors got taken by guests. I've got loads of bunting which I'm going to try and sell and some fancy dress props and garden games. Oh wants to keep our giant jenga for when we have bbq's and swingball to take to the beach. We've got a few lanterns to keep for the garden and any D.I.Y bits I'm probably going to try and sell or throw away.

We kept all our cards in a box in my study which also has stuff like my garter in it - one of these days I'll get an album for them. My bouquet is in a vase in the living room. We didn't have anything else though. Everyone took their favours and we had no decorations or anything. My dress is balled up in a box on top of the wardrobe!
