OMs who had cheese for the evening.

Loopz, 6 February, 2013 at 11:40 Posted on Planning 0 10

I am ordering a cheese wedding cake as a surprise for my OH and was wondering how many crackers I need to get too?! The cheese will feed roughly 100-120 guests, but we are having wedding cake, supcakes, sweet buffet and bacon rolls/sausages in rolls as well.

How many crackers was it suggested to you per person and did you have lots left over? If it was me, I'd eat bluming loads of crackers and cheese so would probably order FAR too many ?

We had loads left over. We bought boxes of Tesco finest biscuits for cheese. I think we bought 7 boxes for 60 people, and had 4 full boxes left over. Didn't bother me, we took them home and used them over Christmas!

Sorry can't help on the crackers as our venue supplied them! how generous of them actually. It went down a storm and think it was more appreciated then any wedding cake. Would go with the suggestion above that seems reasonable amount to work on. We went really basic and didn't decorate but we have 5 tables and we called our table names each of the cheeses

We bought big boxes of Jacobs assorted crackers from the cash and carry. I think we got 5 boxes and I'm sure there were some left over. We had 250 people!

Just a thought. Went to a wedding recently who had lots of cheeses and she also had grapes, homemade piccalilly, homemade chutney and a apple chutney. Was amazing. And everyone tucked in, she also just the big boxes of jacobs

Nothing constructive to add on crackers, as we had crusty bread (what else can you feed French people), but a big thumbs up to the cheese.

Cheese cake went down a storm at my wedding when it as rolled out at 9. When people complimented me on stuff for the wedding they always mentioned the cheese. Never underestimate the amazingness of cheese, and how well it goes down at about 9pm.

I was thinking 1 catering size box of Jacobs crackers (Via OHs Work) a couple of other varieties of 'posher' crackers and some nice artisan breads. (Chutneys and fruit too obviously) for 50 people.

We've just sorted out our cheese today, I can't wait! I'm most excited about the cheese than anything else I think ? Our venue are supplying the crackers etc, can't remember how many we're catering for.

Our venue did offer to provide crackers....at £3 a head. At first I thought this was ok, but then realised I was going to cater for 100 people, which made it £300 FOR CRACKERS!! No chance! that's more than the cheese costs!!!
I popped to Sainsbury's today and started buying some, they have some lovely Jacob's Savours on offer, so bought some of those! and Oatcakes. Need to head to somewhere bigger for a better selection though.
