On the day practicalities...

LallyHay, 23 July, 2011 at 07:34 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hi all,

I have 5 days to go and last night kept waking up because my mind was wedding planning for me all night! It's little things on my mind such as we (me, mum & bridesmaids) are staying at the venue the night before in a 'family room'. The hairdressers will arrive at 8:30 and make up artist at 9:30. The venue has said they will bring across a continental breakfast for us about 8oClock. The wedding is at 2oClock. I'm thinking we all might be a little hungry by then, so should I ask the venue whether they could provide us with a platter of sandwiches or something? The venue isn't really close to a town so I can't send anyone to pop out. The groomsmen are arriving about 12 and waiting in a different part of the venue - should I arrange food for them (8 of them)?

Also I'm not sure whether the room will have stools for us to sit on when hair is being done - would a regular chair be too low for hairdresser? Not sure if room has good enough lighting for doing makeup. (Cooling Castle Barn is venue - so if anyone has stayed there I'd be grateful for advice).

Should I ask venue all these small questions (could get annoying for them?!) or just hope that on the day it's ok?

Any advice much appreciated

If I were you i would definately ask the venue those questions. I'm sure they must be used to brides panicing and asking silly questions so they've probably had much worse in the past. Plus if you don't ask you'll just keep worrying about them and you wont get any sleep. I think arranging for a plate of sandwiches is a good idea, or as an alternative you could take some snack food with you, or give one of your bridesmaids the job of bringing along some snacks for you all.

I think you are right that you'll want some more good before your ceremony starts - with my hairdresser / make up there were lots of gaps between when we needed to be 'done' so one option could be to get your breakfast brought later, maybe 10is, and then people could eat around their appointments as it were? Otherwise it might be easiest to just get some snacks like cereal bars or similar so you can try and eat a little something maybe about half 12? I don't think you need to feed the boys but it may be advisable - as much to stop them getting drunk too quickly at reception drinks as anything if they are like my lot were!! Perhaps ask one of them to sort some snacks for the boys? X

I don't know your venue so can't help much on make up but definitely ask your venue - plus I'm sure that your make up artist will be used to working in various venues, they may even have their own lights (my hairdresser did). Have a wonderful day x
