One Button Bouquet complete with FLASH!! 3 more and a bridal bouquet to go - am I crazy?!

narie, 9 January, 2011 at 21:32 Posted on Planning 0 13

Well I have to say I am soooo pleased with the outcome.. I got the idea from BrideBrat back in Oct when I joined and have been making button flowers ever since... orginally was only going to make one for me... but I then told my bridesmaids that they would have one also.. one down... 3 more to go!! Just got to figure out what type of ribbon i want for the handle. Thank you to my lovely Hubby to be for helping me put it together x x

Wow that is amazing! Really stunning.

I'm making my bridesmaids some button pomanders (but made them as bags so they can put stuff in them!) and it has taken me about 6 months to make 1. I still have 3 to go with 5 months left! ?

Beautiful! it looks amazing hun! How long did it take you to do? You know the white material roses you have used where did you get them from? I keep trying to do a search on ebay but dont know what to type in. Bridebrat also inspired me, ive so far done button holes.

    here is a flash,

Hi kitty824 - I started making the flowers around October time - a few each week. They don't take long - the ribbon ones do! Took forever to get the hang of sewing them together - but have roped a few friends in... the material flowers are from a shop called the range - they came made as a bouquet for £5.99 but there were at least 20 flowers in each bouquet... though they would fill the buttons out a bit which they have nicely. They are sort of foamy material.

They really arent tricky to make! I will explain how I did it if you would like?

I made 8 is about an hours but most of that time was spent choosing the buttons to make up the flower!

That would be great if you don't mind. Want to make button holes - and then a bigger and more prettier one for mum and mum in law!

Ok since you want - hehe! 😃

I will include afew flashes to try and illustrate my point (Apologies to bridebrat, I feel guilty giving advice on this)

I made them the same way you would make a strand for your bouquet.

I got a piece of wire folded it in half and threaded the button on, differing in size to frame the one before it. repeat x2 - then just fold the wire down

I made the lower stems final button smaller to make them stand out. take the stem with the biggest final button and attach a wired stem of crystals to it, then behind that attach a silver leaf which also has wire attached so basically all wired just twisted around eachother.

Repeat with the other button stem but this time only attach a leaf. when twisting both flower stem together make sure the one with the bigger final botton is above the smaller one and check the way round they are you would want the higher flower to be on the right as it faces you so it on the left when been worn.

Twist the wire up to the desired length and wrap with florist tape to secure then twist co ordinating ribbon around to hide the tape, tie a ribbon bow if desired and attach a safety pin to the back. job done!

    flashes -

this is before I taped and ribboned them, they all differ according to who they are for but you could make them match.

    A single one close up

this is the one Ive made for my mum (im making a matching one for OH's mum. Basically the same method using a big flower button a smaller flower button and a gorgeous dimante shank button.

this is the back it looks pretty messy but then who sees the back? (by the way the lace I have used on this is only for photo purposes to show OH Im waiting for my silver ribbon to be delivered)

    Shopping list (just in case)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300450009294&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT - this is the large flower I used for mummies button holes - comes in other colours just click on sellers shop

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300452028761&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT - smaller button I used same seller to save on packaging

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110525693225&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT - the florist tape

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380292745798&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT - pearl stems like the crystals one I used

The crystals stems and wired leaves I used were both from hobby craft but im sure ebay do them aswell.

I really hope this helps. they are so easy. I couldnt face doing my bouquet yet so I started smaller to work my way up since you have done your bouquet this should be a walk in the park. good luck narie!
