One Dress or Two?

Blonde Viki, 22 April, 2012 at 09:29 Posted on Planning 0 19

Are you having one wedding dress or changing into a second?

Is this what you'd originally planned or did you change your mind during the planning?

I have one dress Smiley smile Though I love the idea of having a tea-length dress *as well* I love my dress too much to contemplate taking it off Smiley smile

One dress is enough for me it is causing me nightmares! I love my dress and don't want to take it off when I put it on so I will be staying in it all day - might even sleep in it if OH falls asleep on the night ?

I'm definitely just having the one dress, it's cost enough and I'll never get to wear it ever again apart from that one day so definitely not taking it off early, want to get the most use out of it!

Just the one for me, couldn't afford another plus I only get to wear it once so I want to make the most of it! I'm not having a massive train or anything too heavy so that it's practical for dancing in too!

MIL however keeps talking about having 2 outfits ?

I'm intending staying in the same dress as we aren't having our ceremony until 3.30pm so first dance will probably be around 8-8.30 pm, but my mum has suggested I get something else so I at least have something else with me so that I can change after that if I do feel that I wont to change, so for ONCE I might take her advice. See what happens though

Our reception in the hotel has to finish by 12, and we are very night people so I can see me, the groom and some of our close friends heading into the city centre to one of our favourite all nighter clubs to carry on the party, while our older relatives, and our parents and kids bed down in the hotel.

If this is the case I'll most likely change into a more 'club-friendly', but still weddingy, dress. That's the plan anyway, A rather drunk me will think its a BRILLIANT idea to go into town in my wedding dress, veil and all. I don't plan on having a big floor length number anyway, so I might not even need a second dress!

Just the one for me - I loved wearing it! It was tea length though so very easy to wear.

That aside though, the thought of getting out of one dress and getting trussed up in another would have felt a massive faff for me.

If I had that dress on I wouldn't have changed it either!

The only change I would consider would be a leaving outfit- as in, wear the wedding dress until about 11 or so, and then go off and change into something beautiful and simple, like:

Just to come back to the reception and say goodbye to the guests for midnight, even though almost half of them will be staying at the venue and invited to the after-reception drinks and snooker.

I am having 1 full length dress, but if I could afford it, I would have a second 50's style short halterneck dress.

One for me too! Plus the day must fly in so quickly that the idea of getting changed is just mind boggling! Having said that my dress is lace, has a long train that can be hooked at the back and VERY heavy so I might stripping down to my spanks if I get too hot!! ?

I am definately thinking about having a second dress. My dress is quite big and I want to be able to dance with my oh and friends without feeling restricted. I won't be changing until after the first dance, Which means I will have been in my dress for nearly 8 hours (long enough for me) xx

I really think it depend on what time your wedding is and how big it is.

Im getting married at 4 and my dress is fishtail like.

However when my MIL got married she had a huge dress (ALEXIA W136) and married at 1.

I wont be changing but i know my MIL wished she had another dress to change in to x

I had two; a simple one for our family only registry office ceremony at 11am and a full on one for our larger ceremony and reception starting at 4pm. That said, the two cost me less than £500 (simple one was a dessy bm dress and main one was a sample dress from a closing down sale)

    have a flash Smiley winking

Very valid points jojo, think I will change into mine before the first dance then for the wow factor again (hopefully) I am getting my second dress made so hoping it won't cost too much judging from the prices my seamstress has given me, just got to find the material and the pattern. xx
