Online Grocery Shopping

Who do you use? Do you use the same list or part of it weekly and can you save your lists? I'm finding it fairly frustrating finding stuff - the thought of doing it every week is painful (but probably less so than actually visiting the supermarket) but I can't imagine using the same list weekly.

I use Tesco, mainly for the points codes and discount codes available, but also because it remembers your favourite items (including those you have bought in store and used your Clubcard with) which makes things a lot easier.

    I use mysupermarket.co.uk

It saves you a list of your favourites so I just use that to order what I need the next week.

I use Tesco but I do it through mysupermarket because the mysupermarket website is better. I like how it offers you cheaper and less calorie alternatives at the end as well.

I use Asda. It gives a favourites list (or should I say, products you've previously bought) which I use for the basics like milk, tinned goods, toilet roll, pet food. It saves a lot of time and I find that it also reminds me about things I need and would have forgotten!

There's almost always a free delivery code floating on the interweb somewhere. I keep forgetting to order online before my cupboards become bare then I need to actually go to the store. It's good to buy the heavy or bulky stuff online like pet food, cat litter, tinned goods.

I've had no problems with deliveries or product quality/replacements.The number of carrier bags they use is a joke though and I always race to unpack so that I can give them the bags straight back.

I used to use Tesco and Asda, but H has banned me fro using Tesco since he found hair on his pizza. ?

It is a faff first time, even if you're just using a different online supermarket to usual, but once you've got favourites set up it's so much easier. And we save loads of money too.

Do you usually write lists? If so do a list as normal and then take it to the computer. If you aren't a list person, imagine the aisles you normally walk down and browse them online. For example, do fruit and vegetables first. Or you could buy all your standard items first; tinned tomatoes, milk, bread etc and then think about the meals you might be cooking and what you'll need extra for those. If you get to the end and you are shocked by the total, you can look at the list and think about what you can do without. Or if you get to the end and you're pleasantly surprised you could browse the offers section for some treats.

I use Ocado and Tesco - noth save my faves, so it's easy and quick. Much better than having to deal with the general public in the actual supermarket.

Can I creash the thread with a couple of questions please?

Firstly, how much do tesco charge for delivery - I've looked all over their website and can't find a definitive answer.

Secondly - if you do an online shop, how do you find the perishables? H has always refused the idea as he likes to choose what he thinks are the freshest veggies/fruit and the milk/OJ with the furthest away Best Before Date but I would love to do without a trip to the supermarket.

    Thanks!

Tesco delivery charges depend on time slots - I usually pay £4 for mine. I don't buy that much F&V on line really, as I also like to pick it myself. What we have had has been fine - apples, sweet potatoes etc...

Thanks! If it's only 4 quid maybe I can persuade him to atleast try online shopping and see how we get on.

There's your answer - if he cares that much let him do it.

Tesco delivery charges are between £3.75 and £5 depending on how popular the slot is. I almost always have a voucher that gets at least this amount off.

We used to use tesco all the time because we live quite far from any supermarkets. Since then they have opened a tesco 2 mins away so we don't need to do it anymore.

I think you can save your list and use the same one everytime. But we never did as the things we wanted changed everytime. Plus - they have loads of offers that change all time.

I am just doing my online shop with Ocado through My Supermarket now and because I do it regulary I have a saved list of favourites which makes things easier. After the first go, it should be easier, I don't make a list I just check the cupboards see what we need and then just think of all the meals I am going to cook and then add a few treats.

I prefer to just use online shopping for tins/frozen food/packets/staples and buy my f&v as and when from the local express. Mainly because we don't do a big shop that often and even if I did get some f&v from the online shop, I'd need to go out before the next online shop anyway to buy some more as it never lasts that long, that plus I like to choose my own. Same applies for bread and milk.

We use Tesco but have used Asda. Both were fine. Watch out for when they repace something with a suggestion (which you dont have to accept, but check anyway) if something you've ordered isn't available as we ordered a pack of 8 burgers which weren't in stock so got replaced for 4 burgers, but they were the same price of the 8 burgers which I only realised afterwards and wasn't too impressed!
