Opinion of present for OH

Mrs Mack, 20 February, 2012 at 14:48 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi girls, I know this is a common post, but I have a specific question for you.

Me and OH have recently ordered engraved hip flasks for his ushers and best man. I didn't want him left out so I ordered him one, it says:

"To my Husband on our Wedding Day, Something to steady the nerves, Love from the Wife 26/05/12"

Wasnt until i had ordered it I remembered i wanted to get him a personalised Sghian Dubh for in his sock (Kilt outfit), do you think it would be a bit ridiculous to get him two personalised things? It was just going to say : xxx & xxx McLean 26/05/12

In fairness the hip flask is a wee cheapy thing and the sghian dubh will last a lifetime (i hope for the price!) But not sure I should get the date on two different things? Or am I being a wee bit loopy even asking this?

xx

If you want to get him both then you should! I'm sure he'll appreciate both! I bought my H a Gorgeous Groom Journal and a pair of new boots to wear with his Kilt after the wedding. albeit they weren't both personalised, but they say you only get married the once! You may be surprised how often he used the flask after the day compared to the Sghian Dubh!

RKB, your probably right, he will use the flask more in the long run. I just know he will love the sghian dubh, he's right into his clan and family history. So I was ordering one with the McLean family crest on it and just a little bit of personalisation on the blade. Quite expensive though, but I know he will absolutely LOVE it x

Well trust my H to not remember where he got his from. I *think* it was kiltmakers.co.uk The sgian dubh was £59.95 plus £10 for engraving. I'm sure there was then postage on top of it again, but i'm not sure as it was H that bought it.

H got a stone topped one and it looked quite fab!

The alternative is to get it and take it to a Timpsons and get it engraved if your not sure. H bought his for his Brother as a Thank you for being Best Man.

I've already decided i'm getting H a Sporran for our first wedding anniversary...which is still 10 or so months away! Smiley smile

Haha, you sound like me! I like to plan in advance! I think I'll just go ahead with it, was thinking on the black stone, that way if he wears different tartans over the years it will always match! Now to sneak the £70 out the bank account... haha x

This is something i never had a problem with. 'Oh that's for my make up and hair trial....they need a deposit....' 'Oh that's the outstanding balance on my flowers that i still hadn't paid'

I had plenty of ways to hide it! Not that he ever noticed though. Smiley smile
