Opinion on aisle runner please

rach_S_, 24 July, 2014 at 07:41 Posted on Planning 0 8

Morning All,

I woke up at 3am thinking about aisle runners!!! So the first thing I'm doing is asking you lovely girls!

I have booked to have one with petals down the side as I think it will brighten the room up, do you think they are a good idea?

I've attached a picture so you can see- my colour scheme is navy with pink petals x

I'm biased, because that's what I'm having! I think it looks gorgeous and really special!

Personally I like it, it looks lovely. (I want one) the only thing I'm not too keen on, but that's just me, is the bit from the door to the corner. I would personally just have a straight one and just have carpet to the door. If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for the runner. I've been quotes £70, which seems like a lot for a bit of carpet, lol. But on the other hand I want it to look nice. x

I really like them but was put off when someone on here said they are a nightmare to keep guests off & clean before the bride arrives. In the pic above how would guests get from the door to their seats without trailing all over the nice white carpet in their outdoor shoes and messing up the pretty petal design?

So make sure your guests can get from the door to their chairs without walking on it and muddying it up. Especially if it is a ety day. I'm getting married in Winter so I will check with the venue dresser asto whether this could be a problem. If I can keep it looking like it should without pesky guests messing it up then I will have one!

    Looks lovely ?

The only other advice I've heard is to make sure it's well secured so it won't slip when you walk on it, but a professional company should know that and have it sorted.

Sorry to be a bit of a party pooper! I think rooms look better without aisle runners. They are often creased and shifted by the guests coming in. I think they are an area where you can save money and improve the look of the room.

Thanks everyone, I think it looks really pretty and I would love it but like a few of you have said it will get filthy.

We are getting married in November so its bound to attract muddy feet.

Think im going go for scattering some petals instead, thanks for everyones opinions. x

I had a personalised one... With then scattered petals. My wedding planner had a nightmare keeping people off it and keeping it tidy! A hard feat when they needed to walk across it to get to there seats!

when I arrived it was neat and tidy but I hardly noticed it. After the ceremony it was rolled back up and put away so room could be set up for dinner!

it was down for such a short period of time even I questioned if it was worth bothering!

At least my pictures look pretty! Will flash a pic later.

I personally love Isle runners, especially if they are personalised but the thought of everyone walking mud over it or messing it up would drive me mad.

I saw a bridal show once where the isle runner was but down just before the bride arrived, rolled down by the bridesmaids so bride was the only person to walk down it could you do something like this?
