Opinions on centrepieces please can't decide! Please help!

Sarah5790, 15 June, 2014 at 21:46 Posted on Planning 0 10

Which do people prefer? Just we can't decide which we like best or which would look best. We would probably have slightly different colours/flowers in the brandy glass centrepiece

I love the martini glass centrepiece. If you wanted shorter centrepieces, then I think the third one is nicer than the one with the pink flower.

I'd choose the brandy glass. The martini glass is tall enough to cause difficulty for guests seeing each other across the table to chat during the meal.

Purple brandy glass gets my vote.

Like melancholy said.... tall centrepieces can cause problems when guess are trying to chat or see acrose the table... I found this at a friends wedding.

Lots of the guests moved them out of the way.... some put them on the floor!

Yeah I like the brandy glass but I'm not keen on what they have inside it on the 2nd photo so we would have something different inside if we had that, I love the martini glass but didn't know if it would look too much or be in the way on the guests when their trying to have a conversation on their table x

I kinda like number 3. We're having fishbowls with roses and gerbera. Obly my Oh doesn't think the floralytes give out enough pink light so he is in the process of making 12 wooden platforms with pink leds drilled into the sides like a clock so the light shines out equally lol bless him, they do look awesome tho x

Brandy glass look cool I think.

For some reason martini glasses have started to annoy me in the same way that birdcages have as centrepieces.

The birdcage-hate developed after seeing them at 3 weddings in a row. I acknowledge that I still find them attractive and beautiful to look at, but I guess I just got bored of seeing them. Now I've never seen the martini glasses at an actual wedding, so there is no rationale for them getting into the same 'bleggghhhh' category. I think I've just seen them too often on Hitched!!!

Edit: I think I've just figured out why I hate the martini glasses. It's because they aren't really 'anything' in particular. In that picture, there's no candle or flowers, or anything else really. Just lit up glass beads??? There's more of a point to the brandy glass as they also have flowers in there as well as lighting....

They all look like something from a bad 1980's wine bar. Is it just me? I think they are really dated/pointless. What's wrong with just having some flowers?!

None of these are what I would choose but I think the brandy glass one is best.

I'm with you on birdcages. Apart from being too common I find it quite inappropriate as to me it symbolises a woman's struggle for equality (think trapped 1950s housewife, women dancing/singing in cages in the 1920s/30s).

Thanks for your opinions. These aren't exactly what we'd having I would add my own touch to it I just didn't know which glass would be better. I will be choosing what goes in them though which will be different from the photos x

Martini vases are a bit last season to be honest - pretty much been seen, done and lost their originality now. Martini vases are fine if they are the very large ones that are high enough so as not to obstruct the view across the table. The ones in the photo look too small to me and could end up being moved by guests. There's nothing more annoying for guests who haven't seen each other for a while to have to struggle with centrepieces to chat to each other. There are so many other glass containers available that are interesting and unusual. I'm a florist and the new glass ranges that are out for Summer are amazing. Have a word with your florist and she can show you a few or, if you are doing them yourself, have a look on Pinterest for some ideas.
