Opinions on peach please

Wherts2b, 12 July, 2011 at 10:32 Posted on Planning 0 27

I've read a few posts on here from people having peach colour scheme (which I am also going for) where they try to convince people it's not disgusting and it will look nice!

What does everyone think?

I think it's a tricky colour to pull of but when done properly it can look amazing. Have a look, if you've not already, on stylemepretty.com as they have some fabulous examples.

As a bridesmaid I would hate to be put in peach as it would do absolutely nothing for me but some people can look fabulous. I think it's great teamed with grey.

Thanks I haven't been on there actually. We're going for pastel colours with peach as the dominant colour on the invites, cake, chair bows & bridesmaid dresses. I've got one fair bridesmaid and one dark hair, we haven't actually tried any dresses in that colour yet (purely because they're so few and far between) - fingers crossed they pull them off!

I think peach is lovely, I wanted peach originaly but was having trouble convincing people! I even had bridal store staff pulling their face at it!!! I love how peach roses look and peach reminds me of my childhood (puffy peach bridesmaid dresses and preach knitted cardigans!)

It was difficult when I couldn't find an actual dress in peach for my bridesmaids to try. There was a report on here recently where someone had peach, I'll try to find it for you.

If you like it then go for it x

Aww thanks! ?I feel it's too late to change and I honestly think it's beautiful and find it hard to believe people don't like it, that's why I wanted opinions! Would hate people on the day to be saying it looked disgusting lol

    xx

You don't need to try a dress on to see if a colour suits, just go to your local material supplier and hold a large piece of the right colour material up across their shoulders - you get the same effect.

Peach can look a bit washed out, but done properly its as good a choice as anything - I'd go for a reasonable strong peachy-orange colour rather than pale.

    Hi.

I am a peach fan! I think it looks lovely with either sage green or grey, which i think both balance it out.

Dont worry about it, go for it. Have you got any flashes of ideas?

We're planning on having candleabras like the above but using peach flowers like in the right picture so it will be quite soft and subtle!

Think coral is a bit brighter than we wanted to go for. It's quite a traditional manor we're getting married at so didn't want to be too modern

    Hello

I am having a colour scheme of pale peach and pale green. I've not 100% decided yet what colour the BM dresses will be but probably peach, I am going to go for pale peach so maybe more like a nude colour?

If it works I'll put my mood board below for you to see.

That works really nice together! I think paired with most pale colours it goes really well. We're thinking pastel colours like yellows, pinks etc

At least it's something a bit different, I think that's why I chose it!

A rich strong peach is a lovely colour, but when mixed with white, it can be a bit of a dull combination.

I think you need to add just a splash of a contrasting accent colour in there to really make it all be lively. Just a hint of something, even black. It doesn't have to be much.

I'm having a pale peach, sage green and cream wedding theme. I love the peach but I know lots of people hate it!

Let me know how you go finding peach BM dresses and other wedding stuff - I cant seem to find anything anywhere!

I love the idea of peach! I think its a beautiful colour for a wedding, much prefer pastel colours to strong colours myself! Hence why I'm having a pastel rose/pink colour!I think teamed with some ivory and pinks in the bouquet it will look gorgeous!

I know exactly what you mean. my colour scheme is peach for the bridesmaids but I prefer the term nude pink ha ha, as people don’t seem to turn their nose up like you say when you put it like that! I think the word peach conjures up images of the big puffy eighties bridesmaid dresses for most people.

Our flowers will be palest peach roses and pink peonies with small ivory filler flowers, the invites are a champagne colour with touches of pink. The boys will be in grey suits with sky blue ties and I’m trying to keep everything quite pale and subtle as I personally prefer the paler scale of peach spectrum, and I’m not overpowering everything with peach if that makes sense. I’m trying to use different hues of peach for the decorations and use pinks and sky blue as an accent colour to break it up rather than match everything to within an inch of its life ?

I know exactly what you mean! I much prefer pale pastel colours and something subtle and I don't envisage it being boring as we will use beautiful flowers such as what you're having, and have attention to detail with things so it doesn't look washed out. When you tell certain (older people) you're having peach they'll go on about how popular it was in their day lol and slightly concerns me sometimes but I like to be different!!

Bit of a nightmare on the BM front though there's only limited designers that have the right shade, it all seems to be coral. A last resort if we don't find the right dress in our colour is just to go for ivory/white and have peach shoes and sash

    xx

I’m having them made so have picked the exact fabric colour I wanted. its worked out a lot cheaper too. But a sash and shoes is a really good idea too. Like you said the attention to detail I think counts with this colour scheme. I did have a little wobble about the colour a while back but now I’ve bought more and put bits together it looks really fresh and pretty and def not washed out! I can’t wait to see it all on the day x

What a great idea! Can I ask how much you are paying to have them made? I must admit I thought that would be more expensive. When do you get married? We will have to share ideas lol. I'm not until June 2012 xx

They work out to £88 each and are obv made to measure so no alterations either. I’ve found a highly recommended local dressmaker that worked from home. Maybe you could google some from your area? My fabric is from an online shop who sent me samples out first…. Well actually my fab BM did that for me.

I’m June 2012 too…..the 22nd to be exact whens your date? Def have to share some ideas seems like we have pretty similar tastes.

Theses were the ones I was having :

but im consdiering these now (in peach).... my BMs are a split decision.....im torn!!

what have you got sorted so far?

Oh wow they're absolutely stunning! I love the detail on the first one, but then the second one is so simple and elegant! Such a tough decision!

We get married 17th June ? so just a few days before you!

So far we've decided on invites and place names which are both same design, and also bought some bows to go on the favours. Thinking of alcohol favours for adults and personalised m&ms for kids. would have to go orange for those though. Also planning on peach iced cake with lace & pearls
