Opinions on photobooths and props please.....

May2be, 17 August, 2011 at 15:57 Posted on Planning 0 11

I hope nobody minds but I was after peoples opinions on photobooths and props. Did you/will you be having one? If so, are you hiring or doing it yourself?

I had quite a few compliments on my homemade photobooth props on sticks and was trying to work out if it would be a viable business. What do people think of this as an idea? And how much would you expect to pay for a single prop? Or maybe you have an idea what you might expect to pay for a whole pack of props like the set I made for our photobooth:

Maybe you are a TOG that has some advice on this and whether or not you think brides would buy photobooth props? I would also love to hear from you if you offer your services to photobooths for weddings or any other occassions.

I am also looking into chalk boards in the shape of speech bubbles and the possibility or hiring out backdrops too!

Thanks for your time!

We chose not to have one as it wasn't really our kind of thing, and from what we know of our guests it probably wouldn't be their kind of thing either.

That's not to say there's anything wrong with what you're discussing - but even if it was free it's not something that would have been of interest to us.

Hi Im having a full on photo wall like this...

me and my mum have made it (this isnt my one) and I have made fimo props of various sorts. I quite enjoyed making it all myself so wouldnt have bought them but do know that there are tons of places on etsy/folksy that sell the props.

I love the idea, and have always planned to have one. I think there are a lot of prop type items on ebay, and that is certainly where I plan on looking. I would check out the prices on there to see what you are up against.

    Lauren, that's ACE!

I wouldn't be interested in prop packs myself Mrs May but I don't want a photo booth.... not sure how much they cost. Agree with the advice to look on ebay to see what you are up against.

Thanks for responses everyone I will take all your opinions into consideration.

I remember looking around for a company with a wide range of photobooth props and all I could find were US based websites. I always prefer to buy within the UK so felt a little bit let down that all I could get hold of were the feather boas and pink cow girl hats, rather than the 'on stick' props. I will have a look on esty again but I'm sure the prices I was looking at are fairly competitive, just need to look at postal costs too.

Seems like there are a fair few people that like the photobooths anyway which is a good sign, and as long as prices were online with those of ebay and esty sellers then I'd stand a chance?

This is exactly the kind of thing I was thinking of for later into the venture. My H is a joiner so shouldn't be too hard for us to make a few different ones and then hire them out for events

Yeh that was my plan after the wedding to either sell it or hire it out.
