Opinions on RSVP's please

niche79, 23 February, 2011 at 08:36 Posted on Planning 0 5

Our wedding invites are wallet style, and the invite, info card and rsvp will be tied together with ribbon through a hole in the top of the cards.

We had planned to include a matching stamped addressed envelope in with the invite for the rsvp to be returned in. However, I have stupidly not ordered enough envelopes and we really want the invites to go out this weekend as the wedding is on the 4th June.

So, to save time and money, I was thinking about putting the address labels and stamps on the back of the RSVP so it makes them a postcard type rsvp.

Do you think this is odd ? Have any of you sent or received this type of RSVP or have they always been in an envelope ?

BTW - There is no info about the wedding on the RSVP, so no security risk about people at Royal Mail knowing when or where the wedding is !

I've not seen it before - we provided stamped and addressed envelopes with our RSVP cards so people had no excuse not to return them.

You'd have to make sure you printed them on the thickest card your printer could handle otherwise they are likely to get very mangled by the post office on the return to you.

Are the return envelopes a special size or could you go to somewhere like Staples and buy some spares?

Our RSVP cards were a postcard style RSVP and it seems to be working fine.

I've had a couple of invitations with postcard RSVPs in the past so wouldn't think it was odd. We sent ours in envelopes but it was just down to choice.

All teh RSVP cards I have received have been postcard style so to me providing an envelope would seem strange.

Can't you use up the envelopes you have and then when you have run out, just put the RSVP in there? I didnt put envelopes in mine - just the RSVP card, and people have used their own envelopes. Perhaps use the envelopes for the ones you know will have to reply and keep the invites without the envelopes for close by family, that will probably just hand you it back anyway!

My RSVP's are postcard style & haven't had any problems although some people have still gone out & bought an RSVP card which is nice! I personally couldn't justify the expense of stamping te RSVP cards too & it would be wasted if some people went out & bought a nice card like some of my guests have which I think some people do like to do!
