Opinions on this necklace as a Bridesmaid gift - with flashes!

wonky, 5 May, 2011 at 10:49 Posted on Planning 0 20

Sorry about huge pics. So, what do you think? It is a new seller and as such they have 30% off and are £33 instead of £48 but only until tomorrow.

Oh bridesmaid dresses are:

ETA - its an amethyst gemstone on the end!

    Hi,

It's a nice necklace but the drop could be too long for the dress so you'd need to be careful about the length of the chain and drop section and where the dress necklines on the girls sits.

I actually think it's pretty expensive and although I don't have anything on my website the same I can certainly use hammered circles to create something similar and use either crystals, pearls or semi precious gem stones in the correct colour. I've got this Swarovski Crystal necklace on a Sterling Silver chain for only £17 and I'm offering 10% off at the moment.

    Hope that helps

    Lynsey x

Very pretty, I would be chuffed to receive that as a gift!

My only thought is, on the picture they look quite long. Will they fall below the neckline on your girls' dresses, because if so, the amethyst may 'disappear' against the fabric in photos. Might it be worth asking for the measurement of the chain? Then you can check the length against any necklace you own and see where it will fall. Not a huge deal anyway, I'm just really picky about necklace length because I'm oddly-shaped and most necklines fall too low on me and need to be hitched up!

ETA: Lynsey got in there before me!

Very pretty, I do echo what a couple of other said it looks like it could be a bit long to sit with the dress but that could be the size of the display they have it on as nothing else to gain any perspective off, I would just check the measurements but other than that think it would look lovely and def somehing that can be worn again

I am sure if you asked they would be able to alter the length of the chain.

It is something I would wear again.

Glad that you seem to like it, especially happy that it appears it is something others also think they would wear again.

Very good point about chain length etc - I hadn't even thought about that. Website says the chain length is 18 inches, overall length of pendant is 3cm. Anyone in the know think this would be OK?

I'll have a look in my jewellery collection when I get home to see if I can see what it would be like.

All else fails I am sure I can talk to the seller about a shorter chain length.

It depends on where the dress sits on the girls because it's hard to know without a picture of them wearing it.

An 18" chain on me with a 3cm drop would probably be quite close to a neckline and I prefer necklaces to sit mid-way, it's what I also advise my customers as well, so the necklace isn't really low and then leaving a lot of bare skin.

That's really helpful Lynseys, thanks for your advice. I am going to mull it over today and see what I think.

Lovely necklace but im not so keen on the silver circle in the middle, feel it would ruin the "glam" look. Would look much nicer if it was just the gem, just my opinion though x

Have to say, I think the necklaces are fab and definitely something that would get worn again. The only thing with somewhere like Folksy - could you return if they were not suitable? I know with when you order online you have a 7 day window where you can return no quibble under the distance selling regs.

What does your heart say? When making decisions, I always think 'Can I afford this?' and if I can 'Do I love it? Always seems to work for me!

The dress is Alfred Angelo 7193. As usual looks much nicer in real life than on their website. The colour I went for was eggplant.

Your comment actually makes me feel even more certain about them as I am trying to avoid the "glam" look and go for something a little more relaxed with the jewellery. Thanks ?

Well I am going to go ahead and order them today, they really are the only thing I have seen in months of searching that made me go 'oh, perfect'. I have spoken to the seller and she can do a shorter chain length for me and agreed that the 18 inch one would be too long for my dresses (thanks again to those who ointed this out).

Thanks for this - I checked about returns and I have 14 days to return in its packaging etc if I don't like them when they get here so I am fine with that.

    Thanks again everyone!

I have these bridesmaids dresses too in the Dusty Rose colour, they are absolutely gorgeous, just picked them up yesterday.

I like the necklace you've chosen but I'm also not keen on the silver ring bit. Also they might be a bit too long. I've found the dresses do sit higher up on the chest than on their website so I've gone for a round necklace.

Saying that if you can get the chain to be shorter than it might work.x

I agree on checking the length but if it is ok and there is a good space between the necklace and chain, I think they are lovely. I made a necklace similar to this a while ago for my everyday jewellery and it sold quickly.
