Opinions please

suzannelewington, 10 February, 2014 at 16:56 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hey ladies honest opinions please....

have been planning on buying new bridesmaid dresses for my three bridesmaids, however am struggling to find what I want in budget, however today I have seen three bridesmaid dresses on preloaded in the colour I want for half my budget! I am thinking of getting them, having them dry cleaned and telling the girls I picked them up in a sale. Do u think this would be ok or should I tell them they are second hand? Just think they may turn their noses up if they know they aren't new? Xxx

Get them! It makes no difference to the bm's. In my opinion they should wear what you say - it's your right as the bride ?

If they've been dry cleaned then I honestly can't see the problem! They'll be as good as new, and probably only worn for 12 hours in the first place so shouldn't have any signs of wear and tear! I'm not sure whether to tell them the truth or not...you know them best and know what they're reaction would be, but I'd like to think they wouldn't turn their noses up! Bridal/ BM wear can be soo expensive so take advantage of possibly being able to get them for a fraction of the cost xx

I think if they are the type to turn their nose up at second hand then definitely make your life easier by not telling them

Get them!! Dry cleaned they shouldn't turn their noses up really and should understand. If u think it'd make life easier just say u got them in sale though! :-)

I think it would be a real shame if they turned their noses up at the dresses!

Alternatively - have you tried high street shopping with them?

I would normally say go for it especially as it's your money but have you already discussed styles and colours with your BMs? Just if I was a BM I'm quite self conscious about some parts of my body and if the style was something I wasn't comfortable with I would feel a bit anxious wearing it, whether it's second hand or not. Could you get their opinions on it quickly e.g. send them a quick picture message and then order if they approve? Or if you really don't want them to know they are second hand could you describe them in a text?

I would say get them, have them dry cleaned and if any of the BMs ask just say you got a good bargain online....that way you are not telling fibs but also not needing to tell them about being second hand.

If the dresses are what you've been looking for, go for it - you don't want to be searching for something you almost found but didn't get. If the BM do find out the dresses are second hand and tell them it means you had more to spend one their accessories.

If they are rude enough to turn their noses up then tell them they can't be bridesmaids! Everyone knows how expensive getting married is- true friends wouldn't question this I'm sure.

Hi ladies. Ive had a think about it and im gonna get the dresses. They are £150 from new and he women will sell them to me for £40 each and have only been worn once and are in as new condition... cant reallysay no. They are dessy 2500 palomino in champagne.colour. I originally wanted chiffon material but we have a tight budget so am happy to compromise and its the colour I want so why not?!

ive told the girls ive seen it in a sale so asked for their measurements to make sure they fit. Just cant justify it when they arent going to wear them again and I havent got the money to buy them similar from new xxx
