Order of service..?

MegaExcitedB2B!, 18 June, 2013 at 15:24 Posted on Planning 0

So we're not having the formal wedding of the wedding breakfast, speeches and so on but we are getting married in our local church. We're not avid church goers..(or at all if I'm being perfectly honest!) it's more sentimental the reason were getting hitched there and so were not sure on hymns to have...any ideas please?

Also, as we're not doing the whole speech thing at the reception, I was thinking about dads/brothers/sisters/mums doing readings during the ceremony. Has anyone done ore contemplated doing this and if so, how did it go down?

Thanks all Smiley smile

I am having a church service too.

    I am having

Dear Lord and Father of Mankind (We used to sing it at school)

Guide me oh thou great redeemer (Everyone knows it, even if its the football version)

All things bright and beautiful (Everyone's watched james herriot and knows it from school!)

    I also really like

I vow to thee my country

    Jerusalem

FOG started dropping hints that he wanted to make a speech at the reception and we suggested he did a reading at the church instead. Went down like a lead balloon. he said 'that is a job for your young friends and ushers, not the father of the groom' - I was a bit taken aback as he is usually very liberal/mild mannered! However I went to a wedding a couple of years ago where the bride's aunt did a reading. Also it is fine to ask your siblings - I am doing a reading for my sister's and she is doing one at mine :-) Also I went to a wedding in April where the SOG did a reading too. Blubbed from beginning to end! ;-)
