Orders of Service/ Orders of Day

meggles24, 21 January, 2010 at 10:14 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hey girls- i seem to be posting quite a bit recently! Planning is going into full swing it seems and still 6 months to go!

I was starting to think about stationary and i was wondering if everyone is actually having OOS/OOD??

Is there anyone that has decided not to bother with them? Obviously it's nice for guests to know what's going on but was just wondering....

Hi, We are having them, but I don't think they are a must have. As you said its nice for the guests to know whats going to happen throughout the day, also a nice keepsake.

All the weddings that i've been to have had them and I followed suit really. But its up to you. xx

I made some, as much because I was really into the wedding planning and enjoyed doing it. One of my friend' s always keeps them from the weddings she goes to as a momento of the day. Up to you really.

front cover - 'The marriage of and ', with a picture and then the date and venue

1st page - ** and ** would like to welcome you to their wedding. thankyou for sharing our special day with us. Followed by a list of the wedding party (us, parents names, best men, bridesmaids)

2nd page - the wedding ceremony. Listed the music, readings, witnesses

3rd page - the reception. champagne reception in the house, photographs. 6pm guests seated for wedding breakfast, speeches and toasts, coffee and cutting of cake, evening reception, 10:30pm cheesboard buffet.

4th page - translation of our welsh reading for our english guests

back cover - photo of us and a little romantic verse.

If the ceremony is a straightforward short one with the usual and no readings etc, there doesn't seem much call for OOS......and those that I've done that didn't have them went fine. I must admit OOD do work well as its good for the guests to see how the day is going to pan out with timings for different things such as reception cocktails, weddingbreakfast etc. I also attended one whereby the ceremony was in a church and the reception was some 15 miles away so the OOD was given out in the church and it included a map and directions for the guests to get to the reception!

I was planning to do these (even made up a draft version) but now i'm not so sure...

We're getting married at 4pm and the dinner is at 6pm - all in the same place so there's not much they need to know really. Will people actually take them?

The main reason I felt I wanted to do them was to include a list of who's who (bridesmaids, etc) and for a keepsake but am unsure that I need a full booklet!

GB...probably still worth it even just for the who's who. You could also include a little message for all your guests saying thanks for coming and how much it means to the two of you for them to share in your big day.....and yes.....I've often seen guests put OOS and OOD in their handbags as keepsakes......so they are never a waste. It doesn't have to be a huge thing, just one or even two inserts in a card cover.

I'm the same situation as Gb- late wedding and all in one venue- I'm tempted to do them but i'm a bit worried they'll end up costing as much as the invites!

Sorry, I went away! I did print them myself, much cheaper and easy to do!
