Origami birds. First flash!

owlalice, 14 August, 2013 at 16:53 Posted on Planning 0 13

Yay! First flash so wanted to share. This is mine and OH's first attempt at making origami birds (1001 of them) proud of them, so wanted to post. I was thinking the small ones on the front could be stuck on the name cards. Sorry if the flash is massive! iPod won't let me scroll down to change the size!

    They're gorgeous!!!

Do you mind me asking how you made them (and how much do your fingers hurt)?

Thank you everyone! Smiley laugh I'm happy with them. OH says we'll probably start naming them all!

Grumps - we looked online for instructions on how to make them, but YouTube is the best place to really help. (You can stop and start the video, and rewind confusing sections if you get stuck) Once we did it a few times it becomes quite fun and quick to do! Fingers didn't hurt this time, but after making 1001 they might! Lol!

Grumps - p.s. we bought origami paper, but you can make them from any square piece of paper Smiley smile (obviously, the bigger the square, the bigger the bird!)

Amazing! You've done loads! After seeing your box, I'm now getting concerned about where to store 1001 paper cranes! lol.

We're not sure what to do with the big ones! We have a marque as the reception, and a white ceremony room, so might attach them to string and hang them from the rafters as decoration, and maybe use some as wedding favours/hiding in the bouquets. I'm guessing we'll have a lot to play around with! Lol.

What are the plans for yours?

Haha I know! I don't know where we're going to store them all either!

Aw that sounds lovely! You could put some on the cake too - a bride and groom crane Smiley smile

I'm not sure what we're doing with ours. I don't think I realised how many there'd be! (Daft really) I'd like to hang them all together like a curtain, but not sure where to put that then. Was also considering hanging from tree outside but if it rains they'll get wrecked and also it'd take ages to hang them! Decisions decisions! Smiley smile

Hello everyone! Thought this would be the best place to ask, if other people are making them as well. Where is the best place to buy good and cheap origami paper? Need it in bulk!

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi!

Im not sure where is best/cheapest but I got a load of mixed colour paper from hobbycraft to do ours. It's not specifically origami paper - I didn't know that existed, its just coloured paper. You could look online too, ebay or stationary websites.

    Good luck.
