O/T 1940's Pin up Shoot. Need your help Ladies

Spring, 13 May, 2010 at 14:53 Posted on Planning 0 34

Hey

I am at a point in my photography course where i need to have an idea for my final photos and i have decided on the theme above. What props would you suggest i get (Nona this is why i was calling on you yesterday ?)? I have had a lovely supplier lend me some gorgeous under garments that will look fantastic and i am on the hunt for dresses and hair accessories. Someone else suggested the model could be ironing in one of the shots so i'll get an old iron.

Fancy helping me out with my mind map if your bored? What else do you think? ?

Sailor girl with hat, in blue and white saluting or holding a ship's rubber ring (cant think what else to call it), army one with gun, one with a cow boy hat and holster and gun, the 'ol over sized martini glass or glass bath, one in the shower with a sponge etc, fans, dressing screens, stradling a grogeously upholstered gilt chair i could go on and on not hat i love the whole pin up look or anything!!

How about a gramophone? Or one of those vintage bicycles with a basket on the front? Or a spitfire? Or you could go down the route of the land army and have spades and the whole dig for victory theme?

Oh nowwwwwww you tell me! Beware of getting your 40s and 50s fashions mixed though. Much of those sites oohla posted had 50s. The 40s was either a-line or fitted. I had a giggle on the morning of my wedding with a bakelite telephone I have and this fabulous Life magazine from my wedding date - but back in 1949! google image for 1940s houseold items..... cups n saucers would be the cheapest and easiest start, nice apron, cake stand.....

my new decorated kitchen (still to finish...) but the old used tongs and washboard are from the 40s via ebay Smiley smile let me know if you need any other help. (used to source props for stage productions)

Yay thanks Teehee. I was thinking of doing 40's underware and 50's dress unless i can find some really nice 40's dress i fall in love with more. The phone is a great idea. I will look for one now. I have an iron and all the underware sorted. I also have some nice hats being sent.

Someone suggested a large union jeck flag wrapped around with a salute. What do you think?

As long as I've not got a fayre booked in or going to see someone for a fitting/design etc I'm happy to do that. Where are you? I live in Essex but work in London. So could meet you to give them over.
