OT - A bit down today [:(]

waddle_thepenguin, 4 May, 2010 at 12:27 Posted on Planning 0 10

Sorry all - don't really mean to whinge on here but I'm feeling a bit down today.

It was 9 years ago today that my Mum died of cancer, and tomorrow it's only 1 month to go until my wedding.

I'm just feeling so sad that she never met my H2B, nor that she'll be there in person on the day. I'm not religious, but I do believe she'll be there in spirit so to speak, but that doesn't make up for the not really being there.

Sucks massively. ☹️

Sorry for the moan.

Helen

    Aww big ?

It is sucky I had my own little moan the other week so know how you feel, you know she will be with you on the day, and happy as anything that you have found some one special. I have found writing all the wedding plans down in a letter type thing has helpped with the whole not really being there thing.

    Hugs for you too!

? aw chick, i know exactly how you feel...

just remember she wouldnt want you to be sad in the run up to your big day, she would be happy and excited to see you so happy and ready to start your new married life, so give her a wee thought and a smile and try not to let the emotions overwhelm you xxxx

? I know, it's horrible. I was always really really close to my grandparents and every so often I just get overwhelmed by how sad it is that they won't be there even though I'm sure they will both be there in spirit. 2 days after the wedding it will be 2 years since we lost my Grnadma and it's 13 years since we lost my grandad. I think these occasions do make it hit home but when I get upset I just try and remember all the good stuff and smile

Aw i thik you have every right to have a moan. Just to let you know im thinking of you. When my mum got married she hadnt her mum there as she had passed away just before she met my dad. I think that its only now as she helps plan mine, that she sees the mother daughter thing she didnt have. But she will be with you on your day in your heart and in spirit around you.

? How about wearing something of your mothers, or having one of her hankies (not sure if she was a hankie person). I would have a nice picture of her with you or by the side of the cake as to have her there iyswim.
