O/T Adios etc

Allgold78, 15 April, 2010 at 19:02 Posted on Planning 0 34

I did post this on the weight loss forum but it looks like they're not my friends over there cos no-one replied [:'(] Can any of you lovely lot help with this?

I'm one of those apple shaped people and I do carry alot of weight around my middle. Reading up on this it seems it's all down to a stress hormone called cortisol and my body going into fight or flight mode and storing up energy which then turns to fat. The advice is that exercise and diet alone will help but to really combat it I need to get these tablets (one called Nutri plan and one called Amino plus) which supposedly carry the correct vitamins and minerals that will combat this. Now I couldn't find these at my local Boots but on looking at Adios and other tablets like these it seems that the majority of them have the same ingredients as multivitamins.

Confused.com! What's the difference? Surely taking the multivitamins won't have the same effect as Adios???

Now that's not what I wanted to hear is it Teehee, lol. What I wanted was for you to say 'buy it now, it's a miracle cure'!

I thought as much. I don't really understand how they get away with selling it when it's useless. I've got a Wii and an exercise bike so I guess I'll just have to crack on with those. So frustrating when I actually don't eat alot of crap ☹️

Perseverence with exercise and healthy eating!

A lot of the so-called miracle cures just don't work - it's like wrinkle creams that say that they contain retinol... to have enough retinol to make any difference would require a prescription!!!

Keep going with the exercise and diet and it will get there... you just have to keep going. Very your exercise routine and no carbs after 6pm!

Yeah I know, so bloomin tough though isn't it. I find it so hard to stick to all the time when I'm not seeing real results. It's so disheartening. For example I set up the 10 week challenge and didn't complete it. I feel really bad about that too - how did it go?

I generally don't eat carbs after 6pm but I'll bear that in mind and just have to stick with the whole healthy eating thing and see how i get on. Thank you x

Personally I wouldn't bother with these fad tablets, some people can lose on them but having studied Sport and Nutrition I just think you can do better with a healthy eating plan and regular exercise.

I don't mean going to the gym and sweating it out for hours, I mean a healthy, steadily paced exercise, like Power Walking, Jogging, Cycling, even just walking the dog!

It would be lovely wouldn't it!

I set up the spreadsheet and never completed it either!!!

I started a circuit class a few weeks ago, seems to be doing the trick so far - my legs are killing me today!!! Weight isn't dropping but the shape is definitely changing!

Tis a shame I know. You just see people going on these silly diets and it honestly it's not good for your body at all. It's all about being able to discipline yourself ?

The key is to just eat heathily and plenty of the right things. You can still have your treats, the key is to cut down. Drinking water between meals when you feel hungry is a good hunger cruncher too, and it's good for your skin so an added bonus for the big day!

Edit: You know what is good and can be really fun? Things like belly dancing lessons, pole dancing and wateraerobics. All quite high cardiovascular workouts but with an added fun factor.

Yeah fad diets are awful and most of the time you're starving through it. I've done some and won't ever go back to them.

I do walk the dog a couple of times a day and I am trying to learn to run so am incorporating that a bit, I've got my exercise bike and I do drink alot of water so that's good, just need to figure the food out I guess.

Those do sound like fun, might look into it and drag a friend along with me!

So you're just as bad as me, lol. Would love to have completed it and lost the weight.

Oooh circuits? Are you mad? lol. To be fair that's what I want, a change in body shape. I don't care about the actual weight but I'd like to lose the fat, get a figure again and be toned. Ooooh I'd love that.

My mum has currently taken up belly dancing and she loves it! It's a good way to tone up too.

My friend and I are looking for somewhere that does streetdance but have been unsuccessful at the minute ☹️

Not sure we've got much round here like that. We've got line dancing and salsa but that's it I think. Might give the salsa a go. Did that before and loved it.

I recently started going to a class called Zumba, it's various types of latin american dance mixed with aerobics. In 2 weeks of going (once per week for 1 hour) I've lost 9lbs.

To put it in perspective how monumental this amount of weight loss is, I've been attending a dietician for 7 months as I have PCOS and in those 7 months I lost 1lb!! Lol, so I would highly recommend it.

I'm in Hereford hun, West Midlands. I'd be surprised if you don't have one near you (wherever that is!) cos they're quite popular.

    Dont think conversations work......

allgold, your profile needs to have the box ticked for being contacted..... then it goes to your actual email addy...

i've realised that every day i eat something rubbish, like a sweet, biscuit or something crisp like.... if i gave that up I wonder how much weight Id lose.... other than that I have a pretty good diet.....lol.

No, I cant work out where emails go to either now I've sent it! no worries, I just didnt want anyone to think I was being pushy or encouraging unhealthyness, but what I was going to say was that I have actually had success with the cabbage soup diet.

Everyones different and it may not work for you, but I find diets really hard to stick to and didnt with this one, it sounds hardcore but it wasnt, the "cabbage" soup actually has peppers, carrots, onions in it as well as cabbage and is lovely, and you get to eat alot on it. I lost 8lbs in a week and found it to be a really good kickstart; I also found that I dont crave crap so much afterwards so its helped me to now get onto sensible habits and I've lost 1.5 stone since January.

I dont have the info here, its at work but if anyone would like it I'm more than willing to share.

When I get to work tomorrow I'll post it onto here (now we know emails/convos dont work) then anyone who'd like to have a go can. As I said, you might find its no good for you, but I really struggle generally to stick to healthy stuff and not pig because its there, and I didnt find it hard at all, wasnt hungry, felt well fed and ok, and its only a week, kind of a detox I guess.

I didn't realise it was a week. Maybe that's what I need, a kickstart to getting it moving and then continue on after that with the healthy eating etc. Thanks x
