O/T Anyone know anything about Speed Cameras????

Was it definitely flashing at you?

I've been flashed before and not heard anything. Like you, I knew it was there and slowed down. I was not a happy bunny, but I didn't hear anything and that must have been 4/5 years ago.

I didn;t realise camera's flashed anymore!! I went on a speed awareness course a few weeks back as I got caught doing 38 in a 30 zone by a mobile speed camera (I didn;t even know I'd been caught until I got the letter in the post!). What surprised me on the couse is that in our area there are around 300 speed camera units and only 22 cameras. This means that only 22 units are operational at any one time. So even though you were flashed, chances are you might not even get a letter. If you do then and you get the chance go along to a speed awareness course (there are certain criteria) as it will save having any points put on your license, which will inturn not affect your insurance

As far as I know, it's quite common for them to flash once, it's when they flash twice that you are in trouble! They need the two images so they can judge the distance travelled and therefore the speed you were travelling at! Also just because it flashed, it doesn't mean you were speeding, think it's an automatic thing!

If you are sure you wer doin 60 then dont worry. You are allowed 10 % over the speed limit anyway so you would have to be going over 66mph to get caught.
