I did it and found it really difficult to be honest, but I love my carbs! I'm a big slimming world fan and if you stick to that religiously for a couple of weeks I think you could lose about 7lb, and eat all the carbs you want!

If you are going to do Atkins, I would advise you to do it properly. Make sure you eat plenty of green veg as well as all your protein, and be prepared to feel pretty cr*p for a few days...

    Good luck! x

I did the atkins a few years ago, but found it very hard to maintain.

I lost about 7lbs in 10 days, which I thought was good. But I was constantly hungry.

As soon as I stopped the weight went back on. I am another fan of slimming world. It is good and I don't really get hungry.

    xx

    Hi

I did it, I lost a lot of weight doing it about 3 stone in a couple of months but it was hard going and you do get sick to death of just eating meat, but for a quick fix it really really does work !

I think i'd starve! I'm sure there are better diets out there. (Aside... Didn't Mr Atkins die of some obesity related illness?!)

yeah i think he did now you mention it. i have totally been overdoing the grub the last few weeks so am lookin at it as a sort of detox. want to shift a few lb's before this wedding so might as well give it a bash. dont know how i'll do though, i made boiled eggs for breakfast and just kept thinking how much better it would be with a nice slice of toast!

I did it and it wasn't good. It made me quite ill. Made me feel quite faint most of the time. The problem with it is that you're supposed to monitor your ketones when you do it and if these go too low it can really damage your liver. If you choose to do it I would advise you to be careful.

I wouldn't ever do it, you need carbs in your diet for energy. In fact, you need carbs with every meal. And ketones are bad because the brain can't really use them for energy, it's basically your body not having enough glucose to use to produce energy, so using fat instead which isn't really sustainable.

I'm sure Atkins died of heart trouble, which was out down to his high fat, high protein diet. I think you can easily lose weight quickly but more safely if you do something like slimming world, and eat lots of fruit and veggies, and exercise xx

I've not done Atkins as I'm nto a diet fan but now have 5 small meals a day and i'm never really hungry. This + plus some cardio would prob show the same amount of results in your time frame!

If you are wanting a quick fix you should have a go at the DUKAN Diet.

Its pretty similar to the Atkins diet with lots of meat, etc. I started it last monday & have lost 8lbs so far!!

I dont feel hungry at all. Have to admit it was a bit of a shock to my system giving up sugar & full fat milk but I soon got used to it & now dont think twice about having my coffee with sweetners & skimmed milk in.

I got the book from Ebay & had a good read through it, then away I went. I have already gone down a jeans size & fully intend to keep going with this till my hols in October as there is no way I want to be the "fat bird in a bikini" like usual on our hols.

Haven't done atkins - I love meat but love carbs too much as well... in fact I just love food!!!! Maybe that's where I go wrong ?

I'm on slimming world - the first week I lost 7lbs! The rest has been more steady, a slow but sure weight loss, and I still get to eat pasta, rice, (some) bread and have a fry up for breakfast at the weekends!
