Well my high has now sunk slightly as I didnt realise you couldn't have two seperate policies on car.... It's a bit of a waste of money to have 2 cars as we do;n't really need them. OH's insurance doesnt renew till Dec so the only way for me to be insured on his car is for him to cancel and take out a new policy with me on his insurance, which he doesnt want to do as he will lose the 10 months of his 4th year no claims so looks ike Im gonna have to wait till Dec :-(

Now I could be wrong about this but you can add an additional driver to a policy at any time. This will probably mean that your policy payments will go up but that would be expected. You don't have to wait until the policy is up for renewal to do this.

You're right though, you can't have 2 policies on the same car.

Also in terms of your insurance you can someone to the policy at any time, it will of course put the price up but you will just be added until December on your other halfs policy he certainly should not have to cancel and take out a new policy.

Congrats, fyi you can add a driver at anytime, for a few days for until the end of your policy, i did it for my OH half way through. I think your OH doesnt want to share! ?

I'm sure you can add a named driver at any point during the policy term. I would phone up the company and explain the situation!

I heard him on the phone to them, they said the broker that they use (it's a broker through HSBC) won't add me as a driver on his current policy, even though I was on as a learner. He was shouting at her on the phone lol He was going to cancel it and take out a new one but I said it's not really worth it if he gets his 4th year in Dec (although secretly I was selfishly hoping he would anyway)
