o/t but looking forward to monday (tattoo related)

miss.understood, 17 November, 2010 at 19:33 Posted on Planning 0 16

I've got a half sleeve on my right arm which has needed colour work done, and as it's my birthday next week i'm treating myself and getting lots of colour work done on Monday Smiley smile

My forget-me-nots and violas will finally take some of their colour, in memory of my dad (a lot of my tattoos symbolise memories of my dad), and i wanted this piece fully coloured and nicely settled in for my wedding in 6 months time, and it will be Smiley smile

This is the piece that will be coloured

    Snow Patroller:

My love of peacocks come from my childhood. My parents and I used to go to a beach (Newton, up near Embleton in Northumberland), stunning coastline. Just next to the car park there was a farm which bred peacocks. My dad used to lean over the fence and pick up the tail feathers that the peacocks had lost Smiley smile So it's a memory i have of my time with my dad.

I had nearly 27 years with my dad. We lost him in September 2008 when he was working in Kazakhstan (Russia). He suffered a massive heart attack in his sleep. He had such a huge impact on my life.

My left arm is tattooed with stars - again a memory of my dad. When i was a child my dad and I sat at my bedroom window watching a meteor shower. It was so pretty. My dad told me about the different constellations etc. It's something that stuck with me for life. I now have 104 stars tattooed on my body (mainly on my left arm), every star is a memory i have/shared with my dad Smiley smile

    My dad:❤️

They're all wonderful reasons to pick the tattoos that you have. Don't forget to flash the update on your colour once it's settled in a bit!

My tattoos to date don't have much symbolism and as much as I love them, I do often think 'hmmm - wish they did'... well, one has - its connected to the boxing day tsunami, and I have 'angry water' and 'safe' symbols, with something that to me reminded me of water...

Once I have my backpiece finished then I may get some that do have meaning - my dad used to grow a specific flower to sell (can't for the life of me remember what they were, just remember rows of them!) and I'd probably get some of those done.... I've can't remember living with my Dad as I was only 3 with mum and dad split up, so don't have the sort of memories that you have with you Dad. They must be very precious.... Not sure what I'd get as a connection to Mum.... will have to give that some thought!

defo something to do with snow and stars for Bloke, although I've always managed to avoid tatts connected to OH's ... but I love stars and snow too so ... : )

Snow Patroller - linking with the flower's your dad grew....

The violas that are being coloured on my arm around the peacock - they come from when i was a child also, my dad and i grew violas from seed. They were the first plant i ever grew and they came back year after year (self seeding themselves i guess) - they've been my favourite flower since. And the forget-me-nots for obvious reasons and for the fact that my dads favourite colour is blue.

LOL my mam keeps saying (even though she hates tattoo's) i'll be screwed when she pegs it (her words!) because i'll be running out of space.... lol, not likely...i'll just start on my thighs! lol xx

Will look fab when it's coloured. The peacock looks awesome.

Think it's great when tats have meaning. Most of mine do. I've got a "memorial arm", which is basically a vine, with hearts on for people close to me who have died. I felt too "fluffy" so got a half sleeve with hello kitty and cupcakes to compensate.

Can't wait to see the flash
