o/t cake hibs or those who bake

Princess Pink HIB, 24 March, 2009 at 10:25 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hello!

I'm looking for some advice on making a chocolate cake for my mum's birthday. my dad bless him is throwing my mum a birthday party in july and i said i would look into a cake. Now i don't have a huge budget and have called round local cake makers and the cheapest was £55 which is reasonable but i can't afford it! so I am going to bake it myself

I need a recipe for a chocolate moist fudge cake to serve 40-50 people. I've been told that needs a 10-12" square. I also want to ice it in a chocolate gooey icing like a gnache or something. Also my oven is not great so will need to add baking powder to make it rise me thinks!

Also ideas on how to deocrate it would be good.I'd be ok if it were a sponge with fondant as have done those before but chocolate cake has never been my forteit, and it needs to be amazing!

Can anyone help me out here?

many many thanks!

I have a gorgeous chocolate fudge cake recipe. Everyone loves it. Made it for a little boys birthday just last Saturday. Has choc fudge icing and filling too.

It says use 2 8" tins but I pour it all into 1 10" tin and still have some left over for some cup cakes

    Email me at *****@*****************.**.**

Wow that cocoform stuff looks amazing! I'll def give it a try! does it come in specific dar, white or milk chocolate? could you reccommend a good place to get it from?

Maybe I should do a 2 tier stacked birthday cake? naaaahhhhhh got a feeling that it would get veeeeerrrrryy messy.

jewel factory will email you now for a recipe!
