O/T Clairvoyants

Mrs_T2B, 13 June, 2010 at 15:11 Posted on Planning 0 35

So ladies, a bit of a hot topic/discussion, but have you been to a clairvoyant before, and did you believe?

We had one in our house a few years back, he has been on Most Haunted (which IMO is a load of rubbish), and he was really good; very specific with names etc and personal things that no-one else would know. For example, telling my mum she had 3 wagon wheels in her yard as a child.

So WDYT?

Yup, been to quite a few. I'm a big believer in the afterlife. I do think the ones on TV are very well edited though! I went to see Colin Fry expecting him to be as good as on TV but he was rubbish. However, Tony Stockwell who appeared as a guest with him was absolutely brilliant and much more sincere than Colin Fry.

Yep, I've been to a few. I dont live my life by what they tell me and only go every now and then, but it's interesting to read back what they've told me. most things have come true. John Edward is amazing - I've been on a waiting list for a few years to get a reading with him, not sure it'll ever happen as he is so popular! I'm not convinced on Colin Fry though!

Last year I used to go to our local spiritualist church, each week there would be a different "guest" clairvoyant. There were a couple of good ones but most of them just seemed to clutch at straws.

Now I for one am a believer in the afterlife, have seen things myself & have been seeing things since I was young (so cant blame it on the booze...lol) I am not a religious person but do believe that something more does happen once you are gone. My lot call me the "witch" as I often say things that come true at a later date, alas I cant seem to get the lottery numbers.

I got asked by the spiritualist church to become a member of their "circle" but it kind of freaked me out a bit..

So I guess you can say that Yes, I am a believer in some of it!!

Ooo natty, have you had a go yet at healing somebody??

I will be totally honest & say that I was really sceptical at first that this really worked, as I had somebody do a crap job of healing my bad back once but their is a lady who goes to the church I used to visit & she was AMAZING... it feels so weird when its happening, all warm but she totally cured mt bad back & I have not been bothered with it since.

Its really weird what we can do... you should have a go at evolving it

Ummm isnt that just Reiki?? Its a natural therapy involving hands on (actually off) and nowt to do with spiritualism.

clairvoyancy on the other hand I do believe in, if done well and with sincerity. Too many peeps out there who claim to have 'the gift' and are talking nonsense. Theres a few people Id love to communicate with; relatives and friends.

I've seen three clairvoyants (all recommended by friends) and they were very good. I lost my Dad when I was very young and also my Gran and both "came through" during the readings - very specific things were said about both. The clairvoyants described them physically and also told me how they passed on.

You just have to be very careful who you see - always see someone that has been recommended else you'll end up with a guy like this:

    Not great quality but hilarious!

I am a complete beliver in all things afterlife the best reading i ever had done was my tarot cards and it was strange my bff mate gemma went in first and i hadnt even decided to have it done and she said to my friend Gemma when she sat down

" Oh Alex thank god you have come i have someone waiting to speak to you"

Now Alex isnt a common name and the fact she said it to the girl i was with i am convinced it was my grandad way of getting me to talk to her and well the first thing she said to me before she even pulled out the cards was

i have a man here desperate to give you a message he says never question ur reasons to leave ur x he wasnt the one for you" then she said he is showing her an image of me in a rainy muddy field with a buggy

and i got married a yr and a bit later had our first child and my hubby plays rugby and there i stood awful rain with a baby in a buggy by a really muddy rugby field!!

She said loads of other stuff especially about my mum from my grandad that was all true Wont bore you with the details though lol

I dont care what n e one says i believe she knew her stuff

If it helps, all the spiritualists, tarot readers etc I've been to do say that no true clairvoyant will give you bad news or predict disasters for you! Most do offer warnings about certain things but nothing to be scared of. Out of all the various things I've been to - tarot, clairvoyant, mediums etc, the one I liked best was the tarot as this was the most authentic for me with things said that she couldn't possibly have known or guessed and weren't the usual run of the mill stuff like " I see someone likes HP brown sauce!" which is one of Colin Fry's favourite lines!

I'm very sceptical about it all, I'm afraid. It's not that I don't believe that people can have the 'gift' but I suspect most people are just very good at reading people and then your mind relays things in a way that you subconsciously want it to.

Besides, if I had the 'gift', I'd not be charging money for it! ?

I went to an evening with Stephen Holbrook, and he picked me out of the crowd shortly after my mum passed, and I just creid all the way through! He knew a ton of things that nobody could ever know, and yes I do believe in them. However I only believe the ones who can tell you things that you know, rather than the ones who tell you about your future, x

Do I believe that clairvoyants are in touch with spirits in the afterlife? No.

Do I believe that clairvoyants exploit the vulnerable for cash? Yes.

It's very easy to find videos of "clairvoyancy" dissected into nothing more than a robust ability to read body language. There are manuals on how to appear clairvoyant and how to learn the skills. There is no scientific evidence to support clairvoyancy. There have been no clairvoyants able to "perform" under controlled environments.

That's not to say that an afterlife doesn't exist - I don't know if that's true or not.

I love seeing clairvoyants, seen some really good ones in the past and its only after a few months or so later that you realise how good they are as things start to come true. I know there are some cowboys out there (as in any profession) which spoil it for the good ones, I find it impossible that someone can know exactly what my grandparents look like, describe their personality, know their names and how they died and tell me about my children and their personalities and about my future hubby - all of which has come true and so many details were spot on.

My OH was totally against it (as most men are!) until he had a reading and he was gobsmacked, so don't judge until you've seen a decent one - then make up your mind! As he thought she was amazing and couldn't work out how she knew so much and he had gone in before me!

Really? So if I visited a "good" medium, she could, without me making eye contact or saying anything and while sitting on my hands, tell me about my Mum's mum, her full exact name, where she lived, what height she was, what her personality quirks were (not just "she was a nice lady, kind to people"), exactly how she died?

I've never been to one but wouldn't rule one out, I've heard from friends and colleagues about things they've been told which have been surprisingly accurate. I think its alot of harmless fun as long as you don't live your life around by what you've been told x

Oh.my.god. My grandad was called John. Does he have a message for me?

I had a tarot-card reading a few years ago (won't name names but the woman who I saw is quite well-known and very popular). Although her predictions were pretty vague, almost none of them came true.

Errrm, well he was very conservative, a devoted member of the Freemasons; his hobbies included shooting and smoking his pipe. So yeah, I guess we are pretty similar.

I would love to believe it is true and have seen some at my friend's spirtualist church which were vague and very obviously 'cold reading' and none of it came true. This sadly makes me think it is all tripe.

However if someone out there can rec. anyone in the North West then I never say never - my dad and grandparents died a while ago so if there is someone genuine out there let me know, as I would love to get a message from the beyond!

I've only been a to a few and must admit that the majority of them were crap, however I do believe in the afterlife. My sister sees a lot of 'ghosts' and my nephew plays with 'Grandad' in his room and talks to a little girl in the hallway of my flat - that is strange! LOL

My OH and I were once both quite into spiritualism. In fact my OH would give readings and hold the occasional séance. We both gave it all up before we got together. We have both discussed it since and we agreed that we neither believe or disbelieve, we just don't care anymore. Contacting the 'other side' never helped either of us when we were both in horrible relationships and now we are both no longer in horrible relationships, it seems we don't need it anymore.

I think any matters of faith are only relevant if necassary. If your faith is required, needed and helps, then who cares what you believe. ?
