OT has anyone put their Christmas Tree up yet??

CLAIREYFAIRY2, 22 November, 2010 at 10:37 Posted on Planning 0 43

We were so close to doing it yesterday but decided to wait, we saw a Christmas film yesterday afternoon and it made us feel so festive!

Nope, and probably won't bother this year either as we're only likely to be around for a couple of days over the christmas period, as we're visiting families etc. The cost of a tree and the hours decorating aren't really justifiable.

We have a fake tree we have used for the last few years, although I would love a real tree the hassle of getting rid of it afterwards puts me off!

We watched Muppets Christmas Carol yesterday!!

It's in the singing of a street corner choir
It's going home and getting warm by the fire
    It's true
    Wherever you find love
    It feels like Christmas

We usually do ours around the same time as Sherrie, first weekend of December.

When i was little my mum always had the up 12 days before, down 12 days after strict rule but now she puts them up as early as possible and their down by new year, ha ha.

I always watch Home Alone when I am putting the tree up, one of my favourite Christmas films.

Why do American homes always look so cosy at Christmas?

I don't have a house to put one up in this year as I'm back at my moms!

Mom won't put one up as she is away for 2 weeks over Xmas and just comes back intime to see in the new year (9pm NYE).

And OHs parents didn't put one up last year either as their youngest (my OH) was in Afghan and their 2 older girls lived 500 miles away so they went down to them. This year everyone is home and we will be having a BIIIG family Xmas! So perhaps they might pop one up!

I've told my H2B that we're buying our tree on the 4th of December and not the 11th like he wanted.

We pour a large sherry, put up our tree and decorations and listen to some Christmas music. Very exciting!

Yay Christmas!!! I love it, although I may be a little sad because I start listening to Christmas music very early in November already! My favourite movie has to be elf, has me in stitches all the time. Think ours will go up second week of December so that we can have a tree that will keep it's needles till Christmas. On that note, does anyone have tips for keeping it fresh?

    xx

We usually put ours up over the first weekend in December. Although last year we put it up on Sunday 29th as the 1st was on the Tuesday!

We usually play Christmas music whilst it goes up and then snuggle up to watch a Christmas film. Current joint favourites are 'Elf' (love it!) and 'Santa Clause the Movie'.
