Have you tried Debenhams online and Littlewoods? Both generally have loads and loads of dresses, swift delivery and good returns policys. Will one dress do for both if you add a more sparkly detail like a posh sequinned shrug or giant corsage for the fancy night out?

I had an awful time finding a dress for a wedding recently and ended up with a black prom dress with sequins from John Rocha at Debenhams which will do me for another couple of functions too.

Try Asos.com - I always find something there, and usually if you order before 4pm it's with you the next working day!

    Hope you find something!

Thankyou everyone for your suggestions. had ordered a dress from boohoo, when it arrived it wasn't the colour i thought it was and about 3 inches too short (not to mention too tight, nothing to do with the 3 wispa's and 2 packets of crisps i had the other day!!)

my mums coming to visit on thurs and fri though so should be able to find something then.
