OT - Nail varnish being held hostage no more

Laura_Lee, 9 December, 2008 at 20:08 Posted on Planning 0 13

...in its bottle. The lid is stuck tight... any bright sparks out there with any tips on how to get it open?

Thanks all!

I dont really know, but maybe try and get a tiny bit of nail polish remover between the lid somehow if thats actually possible? I dont really know to be honest, just didnt want to see your post unanswered!

I would personally soak a cotton wool pad in nail varnish remover and rub it round where the lid meets the neck of the bottle, maybe tip it slightly to alow a little to maybe run in between, and try turning the lid slowly at the same time

Put it in a sink or bowl full of mega hot water for 5 mins or so - should melt whatever's keeping it stuck enough for you to unscrew it. I would use a tea towel to hold it steady

I'd go for the hot water trick, boil a kettle and pop the nail varnish into a cup for a few secs. Always works for me.

Roll the lid on a surface and then (hopefully) it would be easier to open....

Thats what i do with sauce lids that will not open hehe

I've done that before and damaged the door and still not got into the bottle!

I was going to suggest the hot water trick too - so did you get the top off? We're all on tenterhooks!
