O/T People who know Surrey...

Jumbly Girl, 6 March, 2010 at 19:18 Posted on Planning 0 11

...can you recommend a really good Indian restaurant in the county for my nan's 90th bday party that has a private area big enough for 35/40 people? Don't want it to be much bigger than that as I don't want people rattling around and her feeling like a billy no mates. Got to have fab food and nice decor. Any help would be marvellous....

The trouble is, which one to recommend.

There area few in Hampton Court or Molesey that are very good, and large enough, but not too big.

Avoid Walton, as ours are fairly poor by comparison, and Jonathan King eats in one, so a great place to avoid !!!

If its easy for you to get to, I'd recommend The Grange, Beddington Park/Wallington. Really good Indian cuisine and friendly staff. Check out grangerestaurant.com

Or for nice posh Indian - The Raj, Epsom

    Enjoy!

    Hey Chelsea Girl,

Thanks for this. I'd tried Le Raj, but they refused to let me book it for a Saturday night (even though it was months in advance) because they have 'regulars'! Tsk! I'll check out the other one now. Thanks!

The Deea in Kingston is really nice, too!

    https://www.deea.co.uk/

I'm not sure if they can take that many people but I've seen several private parties there before and they have additional space downstairs. The food is great, too and I like the decor. It's quite modern but not as dark and "atmospheric" as some Indians I've been too.

PS: I hope this post is still useful - I know you asked quite a while ago Smiley winking

Depending on where you are - how about Moghul in Bagshot? Fantastic food and they are very friendly there. When I went the owner was saying how they have had Chelsea footballers go there so its obviously popular. Wasnt that expensive if I remember rightly...but not sure about a private area though.

Wherever you go though I hope you have a lovely time!

Aw thanks ladies. I'm still struggling to find somewhere, so appreciate the suggestions! My dad has extended his brief by wanting somewhere that has a dancefloor (for a small group of 90 year olds?!). Yikes - this is proving harder than I thought!
