OT Pssssssst...

teeheeyoucrazyguys!, 11 August, 2009 at 15:02 Posted on Planning 0 8

Ive just been out in my wee car. Just pottered about the village, with the rock music to soothe me lol. Went for a wee drive, then to mums with a paper, then to the recycling point and to the docs, all within the village and now im home again Smiley smile

However, I dont know what to cook for hubbys tea coz i was too chicken to drive into our local garage-come-supermarket. I cant park in a bay to save my life and its a tiny tiny carpark!

ah well. thats all for now, byeeee x

Lol bless! I remember when I passed my test I hated being in the car on my own so always had the radio on for company. But then when driving around town I had to have it off so that I could "hear the engine" lol! For a long time I wouldn't go up to the shops in town because of the parking.

    I was like that too.

Keep going out, and go and find a car park with lots of spaces to practise in. You'll soon get the hang of it!

I remember being like this! I wouldn't drive to our local big town for about 6 months after passing my test, i'd only drive the roads i knew!

Next time, take your OH and he can direct and help you into the space, and it will build your confidence to do it on your own!

I was like that when I first passed my test, was OK going places until it got to the parking part! I used to look for lots of nice big spaces next to each other, but actually it was far better for me when I had to practice parking between two cars because I really did learn quicker and it made me more confident I could do it without having someone next to me! I say go for it, what's the worst that can happen?

Lol I used to think that too! But H2B said to me 'Take it slowly and use your mirrors, and you'll be fine". He was right, even if it means going as slow as a snail (that's how H2B describes my reverse parking sometimes!). You'll be fine. I speak from experience, the worst thing is putting it off- I was so nervous about it when I first started driving (8 years ago now, eek!) I got really nervous just pulling into the car parks, once I knew I could do it by myself it made a huge difference and I could actually look forward to going out to places without the worry of parking.

When I first passed I used to get to work super-early so I could practice bay-parking before anybody else got there!

I remember when I first got my car - I'd been to uni and hadn't driven for 4-5 years! I would only drive the roads I knew and was early to work so that car park was empty. Find an empty car park and practise until you feel a bit more confident.
