OT / Stress Relief - Advice Needed

waddle_thepenguin, 18 May, 2010 at 14:32 Posted on Planning 0 9

So with only 18 days to go I admit I'm getting more and more stressed out. Not wedding related stress to be honest, but even the smallest of things seems to be winding me up and ticking me off.

I've been thinking about maybe trying something like Kalms or Rescue Remedy on this last home stretch just to prevent from imploding with it all, but I'm not sure what's the best thing to try etc.

Has anyone got any advice they can give me on this?

Helen ?

Try to count to THREE before you respond to any thing anyone says to you via email, phone, text or face to face - that always helps me, it makes me rethink my answers and stops me snapping at people

Also - going to the gym really helps! I have sparring pads at home and I like to give them a good bashing after a stressful day in the office

    Hope you feel better

I am exercising regularly - I'm on the Wii Fit every day after work, but I'm still feeling strung out which is why I'm wondering if I should maybe take/do something extra.

Tonight we're going to clear a number of things from the wedding "to do list" so I'm hoping that will have a positive effect too.

I've used Bach rescue remedy in the past and found it works, think I might buy some for myself actually.

I don't suffer from anxiety per se, but I do worry about things that I shouldn't and just let myself get too stressed, and at the moment with the lead up to the wedding and buying our first house - well yeah things are getting to me a lot more than they should.

Think a trip to Boots after work to investigate the Rescue Remedy is the way forward.

    Thanks all!

My other half uses rescue remedy and she swears by it, it has helped her and her fear of nerves before lying (which is great seeing as the honeymoon is a long flight). I did find that it did not work so much for me. What I do is just find a quiet place somewhere away from everthing and turn the light off. I then breathe slowly (like yoga breathing) for a minute with my eyes closed and I find that it brings down my heart Rate etc.. I find a can then look at things a bit more calmy and without getting worked up.. Best of luck with everything

deep breathing and taking a wee bit of time for yourself. Nice hot baths at night and a nice dup of tea now and again! Give that a wee try!

just thinking it sounds like the kind of advice that your grandmother would give you!!

my best stress relief has been ranting on here, its been surprisingly helpful, and everyone has been dead kind,

from having panic attacks and anxiety myself i can only recommend just taking a minute, calming YOURSELF down, that comes from years of people trying to calm me down, the attention just made me worse,

and yes tea have a cuppa or a glass of wine,
