O/T Stupid (kinda yuk) question but...are there calories in chewing gum?

ruthy_wuthy, 7 November, 2008 at 21:36 Posted on Planning 0 12

Because I've been given several packets of Trident chewy and it says it's 175 calories per 100g..

so my question is, how can that be if you're not supposed to eat chewing gum? and the packet doesn't even say how many grams each chewing gum is...so what are these 175 calories based on? is it 100g of chewy-flavoured saliva that is 175 calories?

I'm confused...I had a 2 hour London-Manchester train journey to ponder the whole thing and I'm still none the wiser.

You have confused me on that one too and I thought that I knew everything about dieting. Have never considered chewing gum before.

    Must go research lol

If my weight watchers peeps are telling me correct then anything that is suger free is ok. You can have as much as you want and it don't count.

Disclaimer: Please don't quote me on that as I don't wanna be shot down for wrong info. Only repeating what I was told lol

I think too much chewing gum gives people a bad tummy...so I don't think I'll be having as much as i want..it's so addictive though!

thank you fo your advice! I think I'll just ignore the calorie comment!

Well, I had no idea so googled!

According to Wrigley Co a piece of their gum is between 5-10 calories but the act of chewing the gum uses 11 cal per hour!

    https://gbr.mars.com

Due to misspelling gum on my initial google search I can also tell you the calorific content of *** if you so wish ?

Oh, it's a hitched banned word!

Well apparently it is 25calories per teaspoon. Too much for me, i'd rather have a fun size milky way.
